Grade 3 and 4

Thank You

We would love to start off by saying a big thank you to our Grade 3 and 4 community and beyond. It has been a fantastic year, and we can't thank you enough for your support.

Let's take a look at our last few weeks of 2025!

ACMI - The Wild Robot

What a beautiful story and what a way to finish of our unit on our novel study. It was a dreary Monday morning, and we hopped on the bus and went to the city. Upon arriving at ACMI, we were seated, students grabbed out their goodies and enjoyed the movie. This story moved us and it really made the book come to life. The animation, setting and characters were

"Sometimes, to survive, you must become more than you were programmed to be."

Thank you, Ms M, for a wonderful opportunity to head into the city and watch The Wild Robot.

Picture Story Books

Our Year 3 and 4 students have been having a fantastic time writing and illustrating their own picture story books. The students have demonstrated a great understanding of writing a narrative with a clear beginning, middle, and end, featuring a problem and its solution. It takes a special skill to turn a narrative into a shorter story that flows. To support their story, students then illustrated their books. They have been sent home, we hope you love their work.

Christmas Concert

The Christmas Spirit hit ACPS! What an amazing night to share together. It started with an awesome performance in the theatre, followed by laughter, connection and joy on the oval before Santa arrived on the fire truck.

The students have worked extremely hard this term in their Performing Arts lessons to bring this night together. The Grade 3 and 4 students sang 'Nuttin for Christmas' and 'The Snowflake Shuffle.' And were selected to represent our school at the Warrandyte Christmas Carols.

Thank you, everyone, for your support and a special thanks to Mrs Bailey and Gavin for putting it together. What a magical night!

THRIVE

The past two weeks have been absolutely amazing, filled with fun, creativity, and adventure during our Thrive activity program. We enjoyed a magical visit from Dazzling Dan, got hands-on with exciting challenges during STEM Day, and took part in a lively sports round robin featuring favourites like Gaga Ball and Creeker Ball. Students explored the school during a scavenger hunt, spent time watching a movie with popcorn, and continued preparing for our big performance with dedicated Aladdin rehearsals. We even wrapped it all up with a fantastic bike ride and BBQ, complete with fresh air, friends, Zooper Doopers and plenty of smiles.

What an incredible two weeks of learning, laughter, and unforgettable moments to complete 2025 — wonderful job, everyone!

Skala

Skala, Ms M’s clever border collie, has become a regular visitor in Grade 3 and 4 — and honestly, we’re starting to think she might be the best-behaved student in the room! She sits beautifully on the mat, listens carefully, and never forgets her “brain food". Skala especially loves snack time on the oval, where she zooms around chasing a ball like it’s her full-time job. She happily greets everyone, checks in on the learning, and tries to join every group activity. At this rate, she’s well on her way to earning her very own report — and it would definitely say “Outstanding!”

Hooptime State Finals

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR STATE FINALISTS.

Our Grade 3/4 Future Star Girls competed and represented our school at the State Finals a few weeks ago. The girls played with determination, teamwork, and plenty of heart. With a few wins, saw them make it to the Semi Finals.

A big thank you to all the parents for your support throughout the journey and a big thank you to David for coaching the girls.

Well done, girls, on a fantastic year at Hooptime. It was such a wonderful achievement in getting to the State Finals. You've done yourselves and our school incredibly proud!

Making Gingerbread

4E students made gingerbread. The process was done over 3 days, firstly making the dough, then rolling and cooking on day two and day three was decorating the gingerbread. It was great to see everyone having a fantastic go, working together sharing equipment and being creative.
