Junior Secondary Highlights

As we close the books on another fantastic year, it's the perfect time to reflect on all the incredible experiences our Junior Secondary students have enjoyed. This final term has been no exception, with students embracing new challenges, exploring their creativity, and making wonderful memories together. Here are some highlights from our recent adventures:

Blackwood Camp: A small group of students headed to Blackwood Camp for an adventure-filled experience. They challenged themselves with rock climbing and the high ropes course, worked together in team building activities, and enjoyed the classic camp tradition of toasting marshmallows around the fire. It was a fantastic opportunity to build confidence and create lasting memories.

Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie Excursion: Our end-of-term excursion brought Term 3 science to life at the Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie! Students saw firsthand how chocolate transforms from liquid to solid, putting their classroom learning into delicious practice. The best part? Each student made and decorated their own chocolate lollipop to take home.

James Street Gallery Visit: A selected group of students visited James Street Gallery in Geelong to explore the art of printmaking. Using a traditional print press, they created their own unique cards through mono printing techniques – a wonderful hands-on introduction to this creative art form.

Senior Secondary Highlights

2025 saw the implementation of our new Senior Pathways Program. Comprised of four main units including Community Connect, Business Enterprise, Future Pathways and Personal Development, we designed a two year program tailored to empower our cohort to become their most confident, capable, and independent selves, whilst honouring their unique needs and interests. By fostering a strengths-based, inclusive approach and building strong partnerships with our families and the wider community, our aim was to equip students with essential skills and a sense of belonging. Our goal, to prepare each student for meaningful transitions and active participation in life beyond school.

A huge thank you to our families, staff and school community for embracing this change and championing our seniors - we couldn't have done it without your wonderful support!

Finally, we are so very proud of our incredible students and the enjoyment, resilience and engagement they have shown in our Senior Pathways Program this year. They have regularly stepped outside their comfort zone with gusto and grace, learning new skills and forging connections in their wider community as they journey towards future adventures - well done superstar seniors!

Business Enterprise: our Plastics Program involved students rallying our school community to save plastic lids from landfill, and then washing, counting and sorting the lids by colour and plastic type. Our senior students then worked collaboratively with Zero Plastics Australia, Geelong Tech School and The Gordon to explore plastic recycling and the design process behind turning our recycled lids into new products.
