A Big Week Ahead at Golf Links

As we approach the final weeks of the school year, next week promises to be one of celebration, connection and community spirit here at Golf Links. It is a week that showcases the rich opportunities our students experience and the incredible support our families and staff continue to provide. With so many special events taking place, we wanted to share an overview to help everyone prepare.

We begin on Monday evening with our annual End of Year Music Concert held at Montmorency Secondary College. This event has become a much-loved tradition and a true celebration of our vibrant arts program. Families will have the pleasure of seeing performances from our Instrumental Music Program, as well as our wonderful choirs and the ever-impressive Super Band. These groups have worked exceptionally hard throughout the year, and Monday night offers them a well-deserved moment to shine on stage.

On Tuesday, we welcome our 2026 Prep families for their Information Evening. This session is an important milestone in the transition to primary school, offering parents and carers the chance to learn more about our programs, routines and support structures for our newest learners. It is always a delight to meet the families who will join our community next year and begin building those early connections that make such a positive difference in the transition to school.

Thursday evening brings one of the biggest community events on our calendar, our End of Year Concert. This outdoor celebration features dances and songs from students across the school and is a wonderful opportunity for families to enjoy a relaxed evening together. A range of food options will be available including a sausage sizzle, ice-creams and food trucks. Please note that this event will be completely cash-free, with all purchases made via card. We are also excited to offer 3D-printed fidget toys, designed and produced during Coding Club by Sandy and our talented students. These unique creations are not only fun souvenirs but also a wonderful way to showcase the creativity and innovation happening in our coding program.

Finally, on Friday, our current Prep to Year 5 students will participate in Transition Day, spending time in their 2026 classrooms. This experience helps reduce first-day nerves, gives students a sense of familiarity with the year ahead, and helps them begin forming positive connections with teachers and classmates.

It is shaping up to be a joyful and memorable week at Golf Links. We look forward to celebrating with you.

Respectful Interactions Within Our School Community

Last week, I shared some reflections about the way we interact as adults within our school community, particularly parent-to-parent. I want to extend that message this week by kindly reminding families of another important aspect of maintaining a safe, respectful environment for all children.

From time to time, students will experience disagreements or moments of conflict at school. This is a normal part of growing up and forms an important foundation for learning how to navigate friendships, repair harm and develop resilience. When these moments occur, it is our role as educators to support children to work through the issue, restore relationships and develop the social tools they need to manage similar situations in the future.

For this reason, we must emphasise that it is not appropriate for adults, other than staff, to approach children in the yard to address conflicts or concerns. While these actions are often well-intentioned and come from a place of wanting to protect or advocate for one’s own child, they can unintentionally create further tension, add pressure to young students, or escalate situations that we can otherwise manage calmly and constructively at school.

If an issue occurs, please trust that we will contact you if needed. Likewise, if you or your child have concerns about a particular interaction, we encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher or a member of the leadership team. We are here to listen, support and ensure that all students feel safe, respected and guided through the learning that comes with social challenges.
