Music

As we get towards the 'business end' of the term our lessons become an exciting display of new knowledge and skills.
I also like to invite the students to reflect on their own learning. Taking risks and trying new things can be a challenge, but it is part of learning and it should always be acknowledged and celebrated.
In this photo our students are showing their response to a question by gathering around the sign that reflects their opinion. The signs to choose from were ; strongly agree, agree, disagree and strongly disagree. The question in this instance was, 'I have learned a lot of new things about rhythm so far this term,' and they have chosen 'strongly agree.' Well done 3/4s!
We still have plenty more to do and learn though. Our 3/4s and 5/6s headed outside to enjoy the winter sunshine while we explored various tempos and what their standard beats per minute (BPM) was. The metronome gave our beat and the students were invited to either skip in time or read Dr Seuss (rap style). I had adagio at 60 (slow), andante at 76 (walking pace), moderato at 100 (moderately) and allegro at 120 (fast and bright).
Our F/1/2s are also planning to demonstrate some of their music skills at the assembly coming up. Get excited! Here is a sneak peek;
I wonder what we could be doing...
