St Mary's Faith & Family

Pentecost Sunday
This Sunday the Church celebrates the Feast of Pentecost. Pentecost commemorates the day when God sent the Holy Spirit upon Mary and the apostles as they waited and prayed in Jerusalem. The Holy Spirit came upon the followers of Jesus and they were filled with the gifts of the Spirit. They then went out to share the good news that Jesus had died but He is risen and shares His life with us. This was the "birthday" of the Church.
However Pentecost was not just for the people back then, it is for us today. We to can ask for the gifts of the Holy Spirit so that we too might be filled with God's light and love.
Sacramental Night
Last Thursday night the families of children preparing for the sacraments this year were treated to an informative and engaging evening with Fr Elio Capra. He shared with us the gift and power of the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation that we are invited to receive. He reminded us that when we look around our world we don't always see people living lives filed with love. The sacraments gift us with the help and strength of God to be people filled with His light and love. Fr Elio's presentation was entertaining and interactive, while giving us many things to ponder. Thank you to the families who took the time to bring their children, it was an enjoyable evening for all.
First Reconciliation
Several children in Year 3 received the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time at St Mary's Church. Thank you to parents who brought their children to the church.
