Sensory Garden Working Bee on Sunday June 1st, 9-11am

We are thrilled to share that our Sensory Garden at Milgate is almost complete! This garden will be a peaceful, interactive space designed to support our children’s development through sight, sound, smell, and texture. It will serve as a calming retreat and a unique hands-on learning space for all students, including those who benefit from sensory-friendly environments.

But to bring this dream to life, we need your help!

Over the last year, our team of volunteers has prepared the area, installed the garden beds and paths, and planted a variety of Indigenous and sensory flora. We are so close to completing this project and need your help with the following jobs:

  • Planting, weeding and mulching
  • Adding topping to paths
  • Installation of a bird bath and river stone steps
  • Painting preparation of vertical wooden frames
  • Pressure hosing of the stone path edging
  • Cleaning up behind the Manuka building

Whether you have a green thumb, an artistic eye, or simply a willingness to lend a hand, your help will be greatly appreciated.

Creating a sensory garden is more than just planting flowers. It’s about cultivating a space where every student can thrive—where nature becomes a teacher and a friend.
