Student Learning

Foundation

The Foundation classes have been looking at capacity in maths. This saw classes heading outside to enjoy the sunshine and the sandpit. The students used different sized cylinders and containers to compare their different capacities. We then followed this lesson on with measuring water in different sized containers.

Students also learnt about measurement by lining up from shortest to tallest.

Students have been enjoying their library time and today we had a new librarian assisting Mrs Cox in the Library.

During writing students have had the chance to share their great writing with the class.

As part of The Resilience Project students have been making mindfulness calm jars with Mrs Smith. These jars will remain on students desks to use as needed.

Year 1/2

Writing: The students have been busy writing their own version of the fairytale The Three Little Pigs. Working in groups, they designed settings, created characters and acted out their stories. To celebrate their efforts, each performance was filmed and shared with the class for everyone to enjoy.

Math: As part of our measurement unit, the students estimated the weight of various classroom objects and then used scales to compare the objects weight.

Sport: There are some talented soccer players in the 1/2 area! They have been practising their dribbling and kicking skills and have been enjoying playing games together to put those skills into action.

Year 3/4

3/4s are working on adding emotive language to their narratives. They are constantly upleveling their writing and always improving their organisation.

The Junior Public Speaking Competition is coming up and students have been working on writing their speeches. The dedication to their writing has been exceptional to see!

Charlotte bought Miss Pfeiffer some Easter eggs to say thank you for teaching her how to estimate, it helped her win the jar of eggs!!

Izahk and Mini have created a math game!! Each player places down one card and then call out the answer to those cards being multiplied! Great work boys!!

In maths students have been working on identifying angles in their name. This engaging activity helps students recognize different types of angles—such as acute, obtuse, right, and straight— recognising math is all around them in the real world. 3/4 J also labelled the elements of angles using their bodies.

Eliza's amazing art skills, from arts and crafts

Students in 3/4 have been completing tasks relating to place value. A think board shows the different ways to represent a number: ordering, expanding, written in words and on a chart form

Students loved celebrating their narratives on Friday morning! They worked hard through revision to uplevel their writing, drawing inspiration from their favourite authors’ ideas and skills. They also shared some constructive feedback in each other's writers notebooks.

Library time!
