On Monday 19 May we had our Term 2 Better Buddies Day, with a focus on Safety. The students explored all different learning about how to keep themselves safe and help others. Better Buddies Days have a focus on the Buddy Bear Values, this term we explored "safety, care and friendliness" that Buddy Bear represents.
All students learnt about different level targeted lessons on the topics. These are important elements to our Victorian Curriculum and real life learning.

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
During Reconciliation Week the students will explore different learning opportunities about the rich histories of First Nations peoples, as well as ways we can walk together to achieve reconciliation.
Each year Reconciliation Australia selects a different theme to celebrate NRW. The theme for NRW 2025 is Bridging Now to Next.
The National Reconciliation Week (NRW) 2025 theme, Bridging Now to Next, reflects the ongoing connection between past, present and future.
Bridging Now to Next calls on all Australians to step forward together, to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us.
In the #NRW2025 theme artwork created by Kalkadoon woman Bree Buttenshaw, native plants − which are known for regenerating after fire and thriving through adversity − symbolise our collective strength and the possibilities of renewal. This is a time for growth, reflection, and commitment to walking together.
Australia’s history of reconciliation is not a linear one, we have made great strides and experienced disappointing setbacks.
Our whole school PBL value this past fortnight has been, SAFE: I keep my hands, feet and objects to myself. This is an important value and lesson to ensure St John's is a safe learning environment. Students have been learning how to keep themselves and others safe, as well as understanding the different boundaries of others.
Teachers and staff have been acknowledging students showing success in this behaviour and supporting students who may require further learning.
