Important Dates:
Sacrament - First Eucharist: Sunday 22nd June - 9.00am (Feast of Corpus Christi)
Mary Help of Christians Feast Day is Saturday 24th May. Mary Help of Christians is the Patron saint of Australia and the name given to our church. The feast day has been celebrated in Australia since 1844. Mary is a special person to Catholics, especially Australians.
Students will participate in class liturgies on Friday, to mark this special day on our calendar and to celebrate Mary.
The month of May is the month that Catholics have dedicated to Our Blessed Lady, Jesus’ mother, Mary. During this month, Christians pray to Mary asking for guidance, love and support. One prayer that is prayed during May is The Rosary. When praying The Rosary, Catholics use special Rosary Beads to help them say their prayers. The Rosary is based upon events that occurred in the lives of Jesus and Mary; both happy and sad. Prayers that are part of the Rosary include the Our Father, The Hail Mary, The Glory Be, The Apostles Creed, Hail Holy Queen and The Fatima Prayer.
Entries are open to students who would like to enter the "Students as Authors" competition run by the Armidale Catholic Schools Office. This year, students are asked to "write a story that will make us smile or giggle, or chuckle or laugh; a story to lift our spirits".
There are 4 age categories, with the winner having their story published on SORA Digital Library. Students are able to work individually or in groups. Entries close on Friday 30th May 2025. If you have any questions, please reach out.
We are very excited to give the students at St Edward’s Primary School the opportunity to participate in the 2025 NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge. This is a proud tradition at St Edward’s, and every student is invited wholeheartedly to participate.
Every student at the Infants Campus will automatically be signed up for the challenge and read books from the challenge as part of their class and library sessions.
Primary students wanting to participate in this year's challenge will need to see Mrs Michell in the library to sign up.
Login details will be handed out to all primary students who are participating in this year's challenge. If your child has not received their login details, please ask them to come and see Mrs Michell in the library or email cmichell@arm.catholic.edu.au
Students can start logging their books today using this link
https://online.education.nsw.gov.au/prc/studentExperience.html#/
Students are encouraged to log onto the PRC website from home to log their books, or Mrs Michell can log them in the library. Students should now start to log books they have read and also discover books that are part of the PRC using the link above. If you have any problems with logging books or access, please reach out.
The Challenge runs until Friday, 22nd August, 2025. Students can join at any time, but the end date remains the same.
PLEASE NOTE!! Any books on the list that your child has read (or you have read to your child for K - 2) over the summer holidays can be counted for this year’s Challenge.
We encourage students to continue reading during the school holidays. St Edward's students have access to SORA, an online library offering a wide range of eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines. To log in from home, students will need their school email address and password, which can be obtained from their teacher. Below are instructions for logging into SORA.
If you experience any issues, please contact cmichell@arm.catholic.edu.au via email.
