Our experience - The Sigma Serpents

Esports is a competitive video gaming competition involving players or teams competing in organised tournaments or leagues.

This year, the competition for students aged years 4-6 for the Australian Esports League was based around exploring and interpreting a story from the Dreaming (or Dreamtime) in Minecraft Education. We were tasked with creating an authentic representation of the chosen story’s characters, setting, and significance. Each team presented their learning process, demonstrating cultural respect and a clear understanding of the story’s themes and importance.

Our advice for future participants:

Be confident in your story, and make sure you have a good understanding before building. Be innovative and unique when creating. Be the best collaborator you can be with your team. We would highly recommend applying for the Esports team because it was a lot of fun, and we learned lots along the way. Plus, you get to play Minecraft at school and maybe even win the whole competition!
