Hello from the Autism Inclusion Teacher!

If you have any other suggestions of books, podcasts, sites, blogs etc please let me know.

Happy reading!

PICTURE BOOKS

The vibration in her feet when she runs, the tap-tap-tap of her fork on the table at mealtime, the trickle of cool water running over her hands--these are the things that calm her jitters down. This book is for anyone who has ever felt the need for a wiggle, stomp, or squeeze!

Join the young protagonist with sensory differences as they embark on a day at school, navigating through new environments with the help of various activities that allow them to regulate their sensory needs.

My Autistic Mama is a children's book about autism written by an autistic author. It is a story that discusses autistic traits from a positive and joyful perspective. The story gives autistic children representation that they can be proud of. It is also wonderful for teaching allistic (not autistic) kids about autism in a way that doesn't describe autistic people as lesser.

APPS

For some children, brushing teeth can be difficult. By using your smart device’s camera to play the game, children can brush their teeth to rescue Pokémon that have been captured by cavity-causing bacteria. Children will be excited to save their Pokémon friends.

Kidspiration allows users to visually display and organize thoughts and ideas across various disciplines. Kidspiration can be used to generate ideas and organize information for a story plot using the “Picture View” mode, visually display math problems using colored shapes in the “Math View”, or map out the relationships between terms or characters, using the outline feature in the “Writing View.”
