In the weeks to come we will be visiting other countries, if you would like to share a recipe come down to TheirCare we would love to see you there! We would really like you to share some stories about your culture, dress up in traditional dress or share an activity.
If you can't come down to see us, please send your suggestions to us by sending an email or by texting a message to the service phone.
The past couple of weeks at OSHC have been deeply enriching as we immersed ourselves in the significant "Reconciliation Week" theme! This extended focus allowed us to explore various aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories with care and creativity.
Across both weeks, our afternoons consistently began with meaningful Acknowledgement of Country and engaging Yarning Circles, fostering respectful sharing and understanding. Children's creativity flourished with activities like "First Nations Identity Art (Dot Painting)," where they learned about cultural art forms, and contributing to a powerful "Sea of Hands Display." We also connected through traditional practices like making "Damper," and exploring the land with "Animal Tracks." The physical "Apwerte" game provided a fun way to engage with traditional Indigenous games.
Our menu also kept us energised, with delicious TC Tucker recipes that included popular items like "Banana Sushi Rolls" and "Bagel Pizzas" for afternoon tea, alongside our usual fresh fruit and yogurt. It's been inspiring to witness the children's growing curiosity and their thoughtful participation in these important conversations. While their engagement has been a great success, we continue to refine our shared routines, such as clean-up, fostering greater collective responsibility.
If you would like your child to attend our service, it is essential that you have booked them in through Fully Booked, submitted any medical documentation and updated your child’s enrolment, ensuring all medical conditions are listed on their enrolment. It’s important for our staff to understand these conditions and have the appropriate training, to look after your children. Your child will not be able to attend until our staff have this medical information.
