PE Focus
This week the Year 3/4's have continued on with their Athletics unit, with triple jump, long jump and shot put next on the agenda.
Students found the long jump fairly straight forward but, of course, the triple jump was an entirely different beast.
Using drills that isolated the hop, skip and jump and gradually combined them in increasing speeds, the students were all doing a great job progressing through their learning.
This was also the case with the shot put as the students were taught that most of the power that comes from this throw is actually from the body weight rocking back onto the back foot and springing forward. Once students combined this knowledge with the correct method of holding and pushing through the shot put on the release, their throws got better and better.
Next up, discus and high jump where I hope I see a continuation of this willingness to try new things with enthusiasm!
Inter School Sports
Another 2 weeks have passed and another 2 rounds of inter school sports have followed - a mixed bag of results but what has impressed the Year 5/6 teachers (and me) is the feedback received from the schools we have played. Whether it be a win, lose or a draw the reputation of Boroondara Park has always remained high and I commend all the teams who have played in the right spirit to make this happen.
Regie Cup
The new scoreboard is outside 6SC, and we currently have Burra in the lead. Let's hope the other houses (especially Cooma - no bias) show great values and teamwork to earn some valuable points and chip away at this lead!
