College Spirit
It has been heartwarming to see our student body rally around and show their support for fundraising and awareness initiatives like Movember (in May), and Do It For Dolly Day. Men's mental and physical health and youth bullying/suicide prevention are two ever present challenges we face in the regions, and to witness our students actively support and fundraise to raise awareness has been impressive.
Challenge and struggle can often bring us closer together, and I commend our students and staff for their contributions to not only support these important initiatives but contribute to the culture and spirit of our great College.
Activities and Opportunities
Despite being at the College for nearing five years now, I continue to be amazed at the quantity of educational and extra-curricular activities we have on offer for our students. These next two weeks are no exception, with the Carnival Dinner, Cert III Pork Production Industry Tour, P.A.R.T.Y (Prevent Alcohol and Risk-related Trauma in Youth) Program, and AutoCad Short Course all on offer this fortnight alone. I encourage parents and students to stay up to date by regularly checking our Term Planner and would like to thank staff for their continued efforts behind the scenes.
Parent/Teacher Interviews/Closed Weekend
We are looking forward to our re-vamped Parent/Teacher 'Interviews' format. Historically we have not had optimal engagement from parents, so we are shaking things up, putting on a BBQ, having Farm, Trades and Class areas set up for parents to drop in, check in on student projects and discuss overall progress in their courses. We are looking forward to connecting with as many parents as possible next Thursday. A reminder that residential boarding closes at 4:00pm on Thursday afternoon next week (Week 5) for the closed weekend, with students returning to the College Monday afternoon.
Wishing everyone an enjoyable upcoming long weekend ahead.
