Term 2 – It’s a Wrap!

What a busy and rewarding end to the term we have had in Secondary. Our students faced their first set of mid-year exams, and we were proud to watch them approach this challenge with resilience and a growth mindset. These valuable experiences will prepare them for Semester 2 and, we pray, help transform their attitudes and commitment to their studies, as they continue to grow in both knowledge and character.

Beyond the classroom, it has been a term filled with achievements and memorable events. Our Year 3 to Year 10 Athletics Day was a great success — always a fun and energetic day for the whole school community. We also proudly took several teams to compete in the CSEN AFL Championships, where students played with determination, teamwork, and integrity, bringing home medals and making the school proud. Likewise, our CSEN Secondary Cross Country team represented Christway College with great spirit and perseverance — we commend all students for their contributions to these extra-curricular opportunities.

There have also been rich learning experiences happening across our classrooms. As part of the Careers program, our Year 10 students participated in Mock Interviews, building their confidence and preparing them for life beyond school. Our Year 9/10 STEAM students attended the Wyndham Tech Centre, where they raced the 3D-designed vehicles they created — an exciting and innovative experience!

Meanwhile, our Year 7 Mathematics students have been hard at work on their Model Projects, showcasing their problem-solving skills by presenting their creations to their classmates. In Year 8 Humanities, students explored the impact of key figures from the Italian Renaissance, bringing history to life through creative skits and exhibits.

Our Outdoor Education students have also had some fantastic experiences this term. Our VCE Outdoor Education students visited Urban Surf as part of their assessment. It was wonderful to see them step out of their comfort zones and embrace the opportunity to grow both personally and physically.

Meanwhile, our Year 7 and 8 students undertook a 2-day hike through the beautiful Lorne region. Students supported one another as they navigated the challenges of hiking and working as a team in the great outdoors. It was a memorable experience that reminded us all of the beauty and wonder of God’s handiwork in nature.

We finished the term with an afternoon of music, where our talented Music students performed beautifully — their efforts filled the room with joy and reminded us of the gifts God has blessed them with.

It has been a long, fruitful term — a testament to God’s faithfulness, provision, and the many ways He works through our school community. We give thanks for His guidance and for the incredible commitment of our staff, who continue to deliver a Christ-centred, rigorous curriculum that develops not only academic excellence but well-rounded, faith-filled students.

As we head into the break, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all students and their families a safe, restful, and refreshing holiday. May God’s peace be with you all, and we look forward to seeing you in Term 3.

Blessings,

Ms. Alex Tsenalidis
