On Tuesday morning we welcomed home Year 9 boarder, Mary Sproat, from the Cambridge Scholars’ Programme.
Our Boarding and International Student Officer, Christine Quist, will return from her two-month long service leave break on Monday. Thank you for your patience while Christine has enjoyed her well-deserved break.
From Monday, Christine and I will relocate back to working from the Boarding House during the day.
All mail and parcels can now be addressed to your child at the Clayfield College Boarding House, 633 Sandgate Road, Clayfield QLD 4011.
With the cooler weather, we currently have a few boarders with cold symptoms which we are managing. We are also seeing a rise in students with sport injuries with the winter fixture season.
Health appointments are always our priority in boarding and unfortunately, with our growing driving requirements, this may sometimes affect other driving. We will always do our best to transport commitments we have in place for driving.
At the beginning of the term, we had two boarders return with a skin infection which had passed its contagious period. The area in boarding where these students resided was treated as an extra precautionary measure which has seen no other students produce symptoms.
Next Monday 4 August, we have the pleasure of hosting the Queensland Isolated Children’s Parents Association State meeting in our Boardroom.
ICPA Queensland and Queensland Independent Schools Parents Network are together presenting a special webinar to assist parents of neurodiverse children with the transition to Boarding School. The need for this webinar was highlighted at this year’s ICPA Queensland State Conference in St. George.
The webinar will host guest speakers from Speld QLD, Autism Qld and ICPA QLD, and will be held on Monday 11 August from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. Details can be found here:
As mentioned above, driving requests have heavily increased. We do our best to provide driving for our boarders, however sometimes, it is not possible.
If you require any driving, as per our conditions in the Boarding Handbook, please complete the Boarder Transport Application Form and return to boarding@clayfield.qld.edu.au two weeks before the request.
Please note, health appointments are made by advice from our Health Centre and do not require the completion of this form.
Our students will travel by school buses to Ipswich this Saturday for the QGSSSA fixtures.
