Book Week

Next week, we are very excited to start our Book Week celebrations! We will have a special Book Parade during our Open Day on Wednesday. We invite all students to dress up as their favourite book character, whether they are a hero like Harry Potter, a fun character like The Cat in the Hat, or even a villain like Voldemort.

Book Week is a special time that has been celebrated since 1945. It reminds us how important reading and stories are in our lives. This year’s theme is "Book an Adventure." It means every book can take us on a new journey, help us discover new places, and meet amazing characters.

The Book Parade will start at 10:30am in the park and will last until approximately 10:50am. Imagine seeing many colourful costumes as students proudly show off who they are dressed as! We hope all parents and families will join us for this fun celebration. Come and cheer for your children as they become characters from stories like "Alice in Wonderland" or "Dog Man."

The excitement will be in the air as teachers and students celebrate the joy of books together. Please check the map below to find the best spot to watch the parade.

Let’s make this Book Week a wonderful time for everyone in our school community. We can share laughter, imagination, and a love for reading. You might even find a new story to enjoy together!

We can't wait to see all the amazing costumes and celebrate the love of books next week!

Book Fair

As part of our Open Day, we are very excited to announce that our school will be hosting a Book Fair in partnership with our friends from Burns Bay Bookery. This is a fantastic chance for parents and students to help grow our school library!

We invite all families to come and explore the great selection of books available. You can choose to buy a book as a donation for our school. Each donated book will have a special plaque inside the front cover, celebrating your family's connection to Chatswood Public School. This is a wonderful way to create lasting memories, especially for our Year 6 students and anyone who loves to read and wants to see our library grow.

Once the donated books are ready in the library, your child will have the chance to borrow these books as a thank you for your generous support.

You will also be able to buy books for your own home library from a special collection brought in by Burns Bay Bookery.

The Book Fair will start at 8:30am until11:30am and then it will then reopen at 2:30pm and close around 3:30pm for those who may have missed the morning session.

Author Visits

We are thrilled to announce that as part of our Book Week celebrations, students will have the amazing opportunity to meet three of Australia’s best authors! These talented writers, Lian Tanner, Gus Gordon, and Jeremy Lachlan, will visit our school to share their experiences, talk about how they come up with their ideas, and even run some fun workshops. It’s a fantastic way for our students to learn about the world of writing and get inspired!

This week, we are focusing on the wonderful author Lian Tanner. Families will have the chance to purchase a book for Ms Tanner to sign during her visit. If you are interested in buying a book for this special occasion, please use the order form below.

Important Note: The purchase portal will not be active until Monday of Week 3, so be sure to check back then!

In addition to the author visits, we will also celebrate with our Book Parade during Open Day. We encourage students to dress up as their favourite book characters and join the parade, where they can showcase their creativity and passion for reading. Don’t forget, the parade starts at 10:35 AM in the park, and we invite all families to come and cheer on our students!

Let’s make this Book Week an unforgettable experience filled with stories, creativity, and inspiration!

Happy reading!
