Food Tech and Kitchen Garden

Inger Furlong, Kitchen Garden and Food Tech Teacher

School Tree Planting Day

The students had a fabulous time participating in School Tree Planting Day.  Thank you to Bunnings Carrum Downs for the native trees, an anonymous local company for the mandarin trees and to Jodie Dunkley for the native plant.

Food Tech Fun!

It was wonderful to hear the buzz of excitement from the Year 3-6 students whilst they participated in their first two sessions of Food Tech.  The students learnt/revisited how to make pasta using basic techniques and made a delicious sauce using fresh herbs and bay leaves from the garden. Safety in the kitchen and safe and hygienic food handling practices were a major focus.  The Year 5 and 6 students explored the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating.   You can find the recipes below.

If you would like to borrow a pasta machine for a couple of days please email me to organise a time to pick it up (inger.furlong@education.vic.gov.au).

Kitchen Garden

The students in Year 5 and 6 harvested spinach, herbs, borage, lemons, bell peppers and oranges to create the delicious recipes that you can find below.

Can you or someone you know help with any of the below Kitchen Garden sessions?  Please let the office staff know or email me (inger.furlong@education.vic.gov.au).
