Connect: Year 5

Welcome back! We hope you had a restful and refreshing break. This term is a short 9 week term, we have a lot to explore in this time. As we dive into Term 3, we're excited for the learning adventures ahead. 

Literacy

This term, students will be building on their literacy skills through our novel study of Wonder. We will be exploring new concepts and continuing to grow as independent and curious learners. Students will be exposed to a variety of Vocabulary, examine relationships, experiencing the story through multiple perspectives, comparing and contrasting characters perceptions of themselves and others perspectives of themselves, make connections to the characters experiences. 

Numeracy

We are focussing on adding/subtracting fractions with like denominators, finding equivalent fractions with related denominators. Probability students are identifying chance outcomes that are equally likely to occurring, representing the results as fractions and conducting chance experiments and recording the outcomes. 

Inquiry

Students are delving into the world of democracy; they will learn about the values of Australian democracy and the key features of the electoral process. They will learn about the responsibilities of the three levels of government.

Wellbeing

Students will be developing the Habits of Mind; Persisting and Thinking and Communicating with Clarity and Precision. They will be exploring character strengths, developing a gratitude journal and discover the benefits of positive affirmations.
