Celebrating Marist College Ashgrove’s Big Band 1 and 2 at Jumpers and Jazz

Congratulations to the talented musicians of Big Band 1 and Big Band 2 for their outstanding performance at the 2025 Jumpers and Jazz in July Festival in Warwick.

Originally scheduled for the Leslie Park Jazz Arena, the performance was relocated to the Warwick Town Hall due to inclement weather. Despite the last-minute venue change and several students being absent due to illness, the boys delivered an entertaining and polished set to a full and enthusiastic audience—reaffirming their place as one of the select school ensembles featured on the festival’s main program.

Their energy, musicianship and professionalism were on full display, with a dynamic program featuring swing, funk and contemporary jazz. It was a true testament to the calibre of the Marist jazz program, with the boys representing the College with pride and excellence.

Special thanks to Ms Megan Harmston and Ms Janelle Lee Long for their leadership, guidance and unwavering support of the bands. Their dedication is instrumental in creating opportunities like this for our students.

Well done once again to all involved—you represented Marist with distinction and flair and your contribution to Queensland’s most vibrant winter festival was a proud moment for our College community. The video and photos below capture a glimpse of what was a great day.

Marist College Ashgrove to Shine at Queensland Catholic Colleges Music Festival
