Springvale Rise Primary School Community Hub
Community Hub is always buzzing with activity—whether it’s English classes, food relief support, or playgroups. That’s precisely how we like it...an energetic environment where people connect, stay informed, and meet new faces!
This fortnight, we were fortunate to introduce two new programs to our Women’s Wellbeing Group.
At the Springvale Campus, we launched Tuning into Kids, a six‑week program facilitated by Relationships Australia. Over the course, participants will learn to recognise and regulate their own emotions, as well as help children understand and express theirs. By teaching verbal naming of feelings and problem-solving strategies, this program aligns closely with the social and emotional learning happening within our school—creating reinforcement between home and school environments.
Meanwhile, at the Heights Campus, we kicked off Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies, facilitated by Women’s Health in the South East. In our first session, we explored what mental health truly means—as a holistic state of wellbeing. We examined physical signs of stress and identified practical self-care strategies. Through mindfulness colouring paired with empowering words, participants were encouraged to anchor positive reminders into their routines. Next week, we’ll shift to painting by numbers—another creative and soothing outlet for self-care.
We also had the pleasure of welcoming eight new volunteers to the Springvale Rise Community Hub. Congratulations to Rajwinder, Jaswinder, Shahidah, Siti, Cici, Danni, So In, and Wanda, who recently completed two days of training covering child safety, wellbeing policies, emergency management, anaphylaxis response, and food handling. These new volunteers will support us in a variety of roles—from assisting at breakfast club and food relief to participating in special school‑partner projects. We’re welcoming others interested in volunteering, with the next intake scheduled for Term 4.
If you’d like more information about our upcoming programs, classes, or opportunities to get involved at the Hub, I’d be happy to share the full schedule and details.
