Mathematics

This term, Year 6 students will focus on algebraic thinking, learning to recognise patterns, work with variables, and solve for unknowns. They’ll explore function machines, order of operations, and algebra in real-world contexts like scale drawings and budgeting.

We’ll connect maths to inquiry learning through projects that involve measurement, geometry, and data, such as reading timetables, using scale to design plans, interpreting long-term temperature trends, and exploring costs in budgeting tasks.

Students will also strengthen their mental maths, revise key number strategies, and apply their skills to everyday financial situations.
