Design Technology & Materials

Year 8 Technology
Once again, the students have used their creative talents in response to a design brief challenge of designing and producing a key, bag or dog tag. As evidence from the images show and based on the criteria within a design brief, no two are alike and specific to the student’s identity, interests, needs and wants.
The coloured Perspex used for these items were developed by safely using a range of different tools and processes. Our students have learned the vast difference in characteristics and properties of materials compared to the medium of timber.
Year 9 and 10 Technology
In semester 1 this year, students worked their way through the design process and developed skills of designing and creating either a detailed small jewellery box or a small coffee table. They were exposed to a range of tools and machines that enabled them to transform a variety of timber species into good quality and functional products.
As seen in these pictures, all of the students proudly displayed their creative pieces that were a result of persistence and hard work, hopefully inspired to take on further challenges in future via VET and technology subjects.
