Celebrating with SLIME- School Fun Run

SLIMED FOR A GOOD CAUSE!

Our amazing teachers, Mr Jones, Mr Fredricks, and Ms Ghabbache, took one for the team and got slimed after helping raise $10,000, and Ms Kate, Miss Taylor and Ms Zaiter joined the fun when we hit our $20,000 milestone in the School Fun Run.

Students cheered as the brave staff were covered in goo—all in the name of supporting our school. A huge thank you to everyone who donated and helped us reach this exciting milestone. Be sure to create your profiles (School Fun-Run) and keep up the fundraising so we can hit our next sliming milestone target of $40 000. All proceeds go to support the school's master plan. What a fun-tastic way to celebrate!

Learning Centre Open Day

On Tuesday, 15th July, both the Secondary and Primary Learning Centres hosted our very first Open Hours. Staff, students, parents, carers, and the wider community were invited to explore our library collections and engage in activities such as art and craft, board games, a scavenger hunt, and gaming.

It was wonderful to see our staff and their families interacting with parents and students in fun and engaging environments.

Thank you to Mrs Dettling for initiating this, and to the Learning Centre staff for their time and effort.

Year 11 2026 Subject Selection

On Wednesday, 23rd July 2025, Year 10 and their parents/guardians received invaluable information at the Subject Selection Information Evening that was held in the Secondary Hall. They were allowed to hear from current Year 11 students who have gone through the process and were able to speak with specialised subject teachers and Leaders of Learning. Ms Kumar (Leader of Learning-VET /Careers Advisor) provided guidance and advice from a careers perspective, whilst Ms Dalla (Head of Curriculum) provided guidance from an NESA perspective. The next step of the Subject Selection Process will involve Year 10 students identifying subjects that they are interested in undertaking so that the lines can be developed. Once that occurs, each student will book an appointment with their allocated member of the College Executive or Ms Kumar or Mr Abboud (Leader of Wellbeing) to select their final choices and sign their Stage 6 contract. Ms Dalla will review all student choices and liaise with the relevant Leaders of Learning to determine suitability for courses. If any changes need to be made, Ms Dalla will communicate with individual students. Final selections will be distributed to students in early Term 4, ready for students to experience 'taster lessons' for each course selected after the Year 10 exams have been completed. At any stage, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Ms Dalla at the College.

Year 5 and 11 Presentation Session for 2026 Student Leaders

As we prepare for the year ahead, we are excited to inform our current Year 5 and Year 11 students about the upcoming leadership opportunities for 2026. These roles provide students with an opportunity to represent their peers, demonstrate responsibility, and make a positive contribution to our College community.

Students will soon be invited to express their interest and apply for various leadership positions, including College, House, SRC, and GEM leadership roles. This is a valuable opportunity to develop confidence, teamwork, and communication skills, while making a meaningful impact at school.

We encourage all interested students to consider how they can lead with integrity, service, and pride in 2026.

 Push Up Challenge Certificate Presentation

Last term, our students participated in the Push Up for Mental Health Challenge, collectively completing 3600 push-ups to raise awareness for mental health. Today, students were presented with their certificates. Congratulations to Joseph Youssef for leading this program as the ambassador and to Daheey Malouf, who finished in first place, completing 600 push-ups on his own.

These prestigious awards celebrate the remarkable contributions young people are making in their communities—whether through sports, the arts, academics, or community service.

It is truly inspiring to see one of our own from MCHF being recognised for such a meaningful achievement. Napoleon, your dedication and positive impact shine brightly in the wider community.

Well done and congratulations, Napoleon!

Short-stay students welcome

This term, MCHF is delighted to welcome a group of short-stay students from China to our school community. During their visit, they will be immersing themselves in Australian school life, participating in classes, and sharing cultural experiences with our students. This exchange is a wonderful opportunity to learn from one another, strengthen global connections, and celebrate the richness of diversity. We look forward to making their time at MCHF both memorable and inspiring.

Eat up 1,700 sandwiches

In a powerful display of our 2025 College theme, Collaboration, selected students from Years 9–12 joined forces with the team from Eat Up to make a real difference in the lives of others. Together, they prepared over 1,700 sandwiches to help feed hungry school children across the Parramatta and Liverpool region.

A special thank you to the members of the Parent Association and Ms Zaiter for their generous support and hands-on assistance on the day. This initiative truly showcased the spirit of service, teamwork, and compassion that defines our Maronite College community.

Celebrating 100 days of Kindy!

As the kindy teachers of 2025, we are thrilled to celebrate 100 days of learning and growth with your amazing children! While we may have picked up a few grey hairs along the journey, the joy and independence we've witnessed in our students make it all worthwhile.

It's incredible to see how much they have developed and matured over these past months. We are excited to continue this journey together and are eager for another 100 days filled with more learning, growth, and unforgettable experiences ahead.

Thank you for your support and trust — here’s to many more adventures in kindy!

From the kindy team

Primary Disco Fun!

Our Primary students lit up the dance floor at this year’s Disco! With bright lights, catchy tunes, and big smiles all around, the event was filled with joy, laughter, and plenty of unforgettable dance moves. A big thank you to our staff who helped make the night such a success. It was a wonderful celebration of community and fun for our youngest students.

Respecting Our Femininity Workshop

Year 9 girls engaging in the second session of the Respecting Our Femininity workshop, led by Miss Chalhoub and Miss Michael. We spent the morning reflecting on how to best treat ourselves and others in our friendships and relationships, so that they may always be a true reflection of God’s love for us!

The Gentlemen’s Guild – Builders of Change!

At today’s primary assembly, our incredible Gentlemen’s Guild proudly unveiled the brand-new Lost and Found Centre, a project they put together with their own hands and a whole lot of teamwork! Last Thursday, during Break 1, the boys took on the challenge of assembling the unit using screwdrivers, screws, and Allen keys. Without any teacher direction, they read the instruction manual, problem-solved together, and supported one another every step of the way. Their independence, collaboration, and leadership were on full display, and the final product is something the entire primary school can now use and appreciate.

A huge congratulations to these young men for not just building a centre, but showing what

respect, responsibility, and initiative truly look like.

Mock trial win

MCHF has officially defeated Knox Grammar in the NSW Law Society Mock Trial Elimination Round!

This win sends us into the 2nd Elimination Round, with only 16 schools left in the entire state, and we’re proud to say MCHF remains undefeated in 2025!

Our brilliant Barristers were articulate, confident, and commanding, while our witty witnesses held their ground with clever, composed responses under pressure. Shout-out to our sharp solicitor for her excellent strategy and leadership throughout the case.

The teamwork, preparation, and dedication shown by the whole team have been nothing short of inspiring.

Best of luck to our Mock Trial team as they continue their undefeated streak in the next elimination round — we’re behind you all the way!

Firefighter visits with Kindy

Our Kindergarten students were thrilled to welcome our local firefighters to MCHF. The visit was both exciting and educational, as the firefighters spoke about fire safety, demonstrated their protective gear, and even gave students a close-up look at the fire truck. The children enjoyed asking questions, trying on equipment, and learning how to stay safe in an emergency. We thank our local heroes for inspiring our youngest learners and making fire safety fun and memorable!

BStreetSmart- Year 10

Year 10 attended the BStreetSmart event this past Wednesday, a youth safety event at Qudos Bank Arena designed for young drivers to educate and empower them to make better and safer choices while driving. A truly powerful and eye-opening experience, students sat through powerful reenactment scenarios of accidents, various speeches, and heard real-life recounts about road safety, survival after accidents, and the reality of making the wrong decision while on the road. Students walked away from the event armed with the knowledge that when they start driving, not only are they driving for themselves, they are also driving for the people with them in their car and the people around them on the road.

MCHF Students Rise to the NRMA Future of Transport Challenge

During Terms 2 and 3, students from Stages 3, 4, and 5 at MCHF were invited to participate in the NRMA Future Transport Challenge—an initiative encouraging young innovators to apply design thinking to real-world transport issues facing Australian cities and regional areas.  Eight dedicated students from Stages 3 and 4 embraced the challenge, working collaboratively to investigate complex transport problems such as congestion, safety, accessibility, environmental impact, and transport inequality. Through research, brainstorming, and creative problem-solving, they developed innovative products and services aimed at making transport safer, more efficient, and more sustainable for all.

Three unique solutions were submitted:

  • Year 5 – Eco-bot: Eco-friendly Navigation System (Elijah Semaan, George Eskaff, Louis Azar & Matthew El Kadi)A smart navigation system designed to promote eco-conscious travel by suggesting the most environmentally friendly routes and transport modes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arjTrFU8YLw
  • Year 6 – Solar-Ride: Solar-Powered Ferry Services (Mark Maroun & Pierre Hajje)A sustainable solution for water-based public transport, powered entirely by solar energy to reduce carbon emissions and operational costs.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ti6LYAM7aU
  • Year 7 – Methane Enterprises: Methane Filtration System (Bakhos Bou-Francis & John-Paul Badr)An innovative filtration system that captures and repurposes methane emissions from transport sources, aiming to reduce greenhouse gases and promote cleaner air.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKIqmcjDctM

We commend these students for their initiative, creativity, and commitment to creating a better future through innovation.

Finalists will be announced on Friday August 22, 2025. The live grand final for the Challenge will be held at the NRMA office in Sydney Olympic Park on Thursday November 6, from 10.30 am until 1.00 pm

We wish them all the best of luck.

Mrs Hajje & Miss Sharbeen

Book week

Our Book Week Parade was a wonderful celebration of imagination, creativity, and the joy of reading! With this year’s theme "Book an Adventure", students brought their favourite characters to life through vibrant costumes and big smiles.

We held two parades—one for our Infants students and one for Primary—and both were a huge success. It was heartwarming to see the effort families and students put into their costumes, and the excitement across the school was contagious.

A big thank you to all staff, students, and families for making the day so special. Enjoy the photos from our adventure-filled parades!
