Kanga Cricket
Each year a group of Year 3/4 students represent COHR at a Kanga Cricket carnival. They are coached by some of our Senior students, this year Liesel, Bridget, Matthew and Jack. We are grateful to the coaches for the time and effort they have put into preparing their teams and to Ms Tobin for organising the day. Our coaches shared their reflections of the day.
On Friday the 1st of November, we had the privilege of accompanying the Year 3/4 Girls to their Kanga Cricket Gala Day. Winning 3 out of 4 games, we are so happy with the outcomes of the day. We played against Amsleigh, Sacred Heart and St Peter's. We all enjoyed it, and it was a great experience.
We are so proud of how each of our team members have improved over the course of our training sessions, and they all played so well!
We are so proud of Liana, who tried her best and has improved so much! Liana, you made COHR proud and we had such a great time with you on Gala Day!
Thank you for your commitment to training! Abby, your bowling is so accurate and your technique has improved so much, you did so much for the team.
Lauren, you have adapted so much speed to your bowling and your batting and energy on the field is so commendable.
Zoe's running and attention whilst batting is fantastic and you have helped us with so many runs!
Chloe also did a really great job in batting, she hit so many 8s and 4s and she showed so much team spirit behind the scenes. Well done Chloe!
Mishka, you were a great new person in our team. You improved so much, and we loved having you!
Ari, you may have been a late arrival, but you starred! You came back and rocked and we are extremely proud of you!
Karla, you improved so much and you were so great you did so well. We loved having you there!
Camila, one of the only year 3s, you did great, and looked like a natural cricketer even though you only came at the last minute! Well done! We loved having you!
The day was so much fun, and we all improved so much. We loved having the girls' all day. They all did amazingly, showing great sportsmanship and supporting each other! We are so grateful to have coached this wonderful group of girls.
Liesel and Bridge
Our Kanga cricket day was so fun. Our first game was Amsleigh. The game against Amsleigh we had Henry and Ollie play on Amsleigh. Henry got 16 runs and Ollie got 2 runs and he had some good bowls. Thanks for being such great sports boys!
In our second game Philip bowled someone out. He was so surprised and Matthew and I were very proud. Matteo and Matthew also had a strong run with their cricket skills.
In our third game, all the boys played really well despite the fact that Sacred Heart had a lot of stronger players. Alex and Theodore, who are strong players, really stepped up in both bowling and batting, which gave us a bit more confidence.
In our fourth game we played one of the stronger teams but the boys stayed with it. We started to understand the game more with Marco and Jasper being really active with batting. Their running in an over was outstanding and that was a big thing that stuck out to us on the day.
Overall, we are really proud of all of the boys who played their hearts out on the day and made everyone proud. A big shout out to Ms Tobin for orchestrating all of the teams and making this day possible.
