Social Outreach:

Vinnie’s Christmas Hampers

This term our main social justice focus in term 4 is the Christmas Hampers for families in need, through the St. Vincent De Paul Society.

Each class has been given a particular item we would like donated so that we can create hampers for families doing it tough this year. Below is a table detailing items required from each class group.

All donations need to be in by Thursday week 9 (12th December), so that we have enough time to pack and send hampers. To uphold the dignity of those receiving the goods, please ensure that all food items are not due to expire for 6 months. All items must be non-perishable.

Operation Christmas Child

A big thank you to all families who donated Christmas boxes for children overseas, through our ‘Operation Christmas Child’ outreach initiative. Boxes have all been taken to the drop-off location and will be on their way soon!

As always, thank you for your support and generosity. It is greatly appreciated!

Liturgy:

On November 15th we celebrated the feast of the Patron Saint of our School, Saint Luke. While the Catholic Church observes his feast on October 18th, our College marks the occasion later in the year. It was a joyful and exciting day as students participated in prayer and other activities.

The day began with a Liturgy, bringing together students from Arrunga, the School of Foundations, the School of Leadership, and the School of Entrepreneurs. During this time, they reflected on the teachings of Saint Luke and received a message of encouragement.

Students were encouraged to share Saint Luke's message by reminding others that they are loved by God. They were also inspired to explore their unique talents and use them to benefit the community.

As a Catholic College, this Liturgy provided a special opportunity for students and staff members to encounter God through prayer and to strengthen their relationships with Him and with one another.

YCS:

On November 21st, the St Luke’s YCS Leadership Team proudly participated in the Diocesan YCS Leaders Retreat, hosted at St Luke’s Catholic College. This enriching event brought together passionate young leaders, including members from St Columba’s, to engage in a day of profound learning and collaboration under the guidance of the Diocesan YCW leaders.

The retreat offered a dynamic platform for students to enhance their leadership skills through a series of engaging and impactful activities. These activities were carefully designed to empower students in areas such as servant leadership, relationship-building, organisational planning, and collaborative action. Participants explored the essence of Catholic formation, deepened their understanding of mission-driven leadership, and learned to inspire positive change within their school communities and beyond.
