Principal's Report

Tim Bernau | Principal

Dear Skye Families,

As 2024 draws to a close, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on what has been another eventful and rewarding year at Skye Primary School. Thank you to everyone—students, staff, families, and volunteers—who have contributed to making this year a success.

Celebrating Our Volunteers

Last week, we gathered to celebrate our amazing volunteers with a morning tea. It was wonderful to see so many of you there. Our volunteers support us in countless ways, from governance and fundraising to reading programs and Breakfast Club. You truly are the heartbeat of our school, and your efforts are deeply appreciated.

A Year of Community Highlights

Our 2024 community events have been a testament to the spirit and strength of our school:

  • Twilight Sports and Meet the Teacher: An opportunity for families and teachers to connect in a relaxed, fun environment.
  • Maths Open Afternoon: A showcase of the joy and creativity in learning, with families exploring Maths games and teaching approaches together.
  • Dreamweaver Concert: Students shone on stage at the Frankston Arts Centre, overcoming nerves and delivering unforgettable performances.
  • Community Picnic: A festive season celebration where families gathered on the grass to enjoy music, laughter, and each other’s company.

These events remind us of the importance of community and the joy of coming together to celebrate our shared journey.

Skye Primary School: "Improving"!

We are proud to announce that Skye Primary School has been placed in the “Improving” category by the Department of Education and Training’s Performance Report. This reflects significant progress in both learning and wellbeing outcomes, particularly in areas like Emotional Awareness, Managing Bullying, School Connectedness, Stimulated Learning, and Student Voice.

This is a wonderful acknowledgment of the hard work of our students, staff, and families. We look forward to building on this success in 2025.

We encourage you to review these reports together, celebrating achievements and identifying areas for future growth.

Classroom Moves and Building Works

As we prepare for 2025, some classes will temporarily relocate next week. Details have been communicated to relevant families via Sentral. Additionally, building works in the Prep Patch will begin shortly, transforming the space into four individual classrooms to welcome our 2025 Foundation students.

Wishing You a Safe and Happy Holiday

See you all next year!
