This fortnight, our Preps-2 have explored some Volleyball skills and began to build their knowledge of the sport, surprisingly, a lot of students already new some of the skills used which they shared with the class. We used balloons to practise the passing/receiving skills; set and dig. First we explored these in pairs, and then in small groups using a short net to practise playing a mini game of Volleyball.
This fortnight, our 3/4 classes also explored Volleyball, after sharing what they already know about it. After practising some key skills with balloons (including setting, digging, and both underarm and overarm serving), they then used volleyballs to play mini games of volleyballs in teams of 6.
This fortnight, our 5/6’s finished their 4 week Volleyball unit with a couple of modified games of Volleyball, focusing on confidently receiving and passing the ball either to team mates, or over the net in attempt to gain points. It was our best session yet with amazing sportsmanship, perseverance, and fun. It was clear that all students have improved in their Volleyball skills, an awesome reflection of their efforts during this unit!
