Learning Community 2

3/4 Maxine Howard and Nicole Stark

It's been a big two weeks in 3/4!

We have begun our end of year assessments, and are seeing some fabulous academic and personal growth in our students.

Last week in Writing we had a go at writing our own fractured fairy tales! It was tricky but we had great fun. Fractured fairy tales are 'broken' in some way - we changed the setting, the characters, the problem or any other element of the story and then rewrote it.

We looked into recounts in Reading. We listened to 'Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad day' and turned his day into a timeline of events. We also created our own versions of the story!

In Maths we revised Chance and performed our own chance experiments, one of which involved the probability of having certain coloured Smarties in our box - it was a tasty experiment!

This week we learned about Remembrance Day. We made paper poppies to decorate the School, we wrote poems, we researched and interpreted 'In Flanders Fields'. Check out our Black out Poems - we're very proud!

We are excited about our Cranbourne Gardens excursion coming up - please complete the necessary event information on Compass.

We are also looking for parent volunteers to join us - please let us know if you have a Working with Children's Check and are able to join.

Thank you!
