Calling Ex-Students of Toni Bilton
Toni Bilton (nee Tulloch) is retiring after 34 years at Kinross Wolaroi. We are requesting any photos that you may have from your school days with Toni. We would also love it if past students would like to send in a 30-60 second video wishing her well or sharing a fond memory.
Please send to Penny Chandler at pchandler@kws.nsw.edu.au by Friday 29 November.
Premmie Marathon Challenge
Brown House Social Justice Initiative
Brown House has had a busy November so far, with us collectively walking, running, rowing, swimming and more, all for the purpose of raising money for the vital cause of raising money for premature babies. Running for Premature Babies challenges participants to attempt to complete as many kilometers as possible throughout the month of November (which is Prematurity Awareness Month), with all proceeds going towards helping the 1 in 10 babies that are born prematurely.
So far Brown House has walked 1778 kilometers, and raised $1813 in total, with a special shout out to year seven, who have raised $1142. Each mentor group will continue to complete the challenge, with the aim for us to walk further than last years 4672kms, and hopefully raise even more than last years $5200.
Why is this charity important?
26,000 Australian babies are born preterm each year, the definition of such being born before 37 completed weeks of pregnancy and after 20 (the average being 40). This is the leading cause of death and disability in children up to 5 years of age in the developed world.
Running for Premature Babies has helped support 9,000 of the children, through funding life-saving neo-natal equipment for our Australian Hospitals. This equipment helps aid the breathing difficulties, heart and brain problems which risk the lives of the young Australian babies, as well as helping prevent disabilities.
What can I do to help?
To get on board with this lifesaving and heart-moving charity, Brown House is asking you to please make a tax-deductable charitable donation to help us reach our goal of $2,500. If you’d like to donate, the links to each well-being page are below, as well as my own if your child is not in Brown. Help us make a better world for Australia’s Premature Babies.
