Principal's Message
Dear parents, students and families,
Our Market Day has been and gone and, despite the weather, was a big success. There must have been some exhausted parents and other helpers Sunday night and Monday. For some of our P & F, Sunday was just the culmination of months of work. Besides that core there have been others heavily involved in the weeks leading up to the event and on the day families gave many hours, some their entire day, from set up to pack up. Thank you to you all on behalf of all the students at St Anne's. We still have some receipts for payment before final figures for money raised can be calculated but given that from just after noon we were smashed by the weather it was a great effort. Apologies again to our worshipping community at St Anne's Church for the noise from the hovercraft during the 10am service. This was the first time we had hired these providers so were unaware of what a distraction they might be. I would like to also note with much joy and appreciation our former parents and students who return on this day to support a school where they have already given so much. Well done community- you came together and made a special occasion for our yearly market.
Our Foundation students will return for their second Orientation tomorrow on Friday 22 November. They will move quickly onto their third orientation on Tuesday 26 November the following week which is followed the next day for our incoming Foundation students with their Teddy Bear's picnic on Friday 29 between 2-3pm. The children will certainly be starting to feel like they are St Anne's students by the time they get to the picnic.
Tomorrow our students will also have a chance to hear their peers who take part in "Kids on Key" during the day. I know all of these young musicians will have worked hard this year and to have an audience made up of all your peers will probably be a little bit daunting. I hope they get out there and rock it!!
This Sunday is the Feast of Christ the King which is the last Sunday of ordinary time before we enter the season of Advent. If you are wondering a bit more about what this feast is about perhaps this quote may help. We truly become his head, heart and hands to our community.
“To ask Christ to be your King is to put your trust in His Providence, to commit to fitting your plans into His, so that His will will be done on earth-in us-as it is in heaven.”- Archbishop Anthony Fisher OP
Next week on Thursday we will have Frankston City Council Youth Workers meeting with our Year 6 students about their very soon transition to sSecondary schooling. We hope this helps them to manage the transition even more successfully as their time at St Anne's draws rapidly to a close.
God bless
Rod Shaw
