Two Wolves Writing – The Tempest
Students in 7A English were tasked with re-writing a chapter from the novel Two Wolves, focusing on replicating the author’s sentence style and rhythm. Their challenge was to convey Ben’s fear and exhaustion, along with the key events of the chapter, in 10 to 15 sentences or sentence fragments. Here is some of their work.
The Tempest
Terrible fear.
Blistering cold.
Hurricane like wind.
Terror in his eyes.
Had to.
Bucketing rain.
All one.
Thunder growled.
Clouds rushed.
Eerie sky.
Water raced.
Rustling leaves.
Vomit oozing.

The Tempest
Blinding lightning against the dark clouds. Roaring thunder. Hard rain. Biting wind. Piercing cold. Fear. Absolutely exhausted. “Shelter” Ben whispers. Money falls. Into the river. “Who cares?” Ben thinks. He makes a feeble tepee. He places Olive down. Sleep. Finally sleep. He can escape the real world. Into fantasy. Into warmth. Into safety. Ben’s last thought, “Things will get better”…

The Tempest
A camera flash.
That’s how it looked,
The wind pummelled Ben’s side
And the tall trees circled the area.
Bucketing rain sounded on the river.
Night creatures’ sound filled the air.
Olive was asleep.
Flash.
Footsteps sounded & Ben took Olive under a large tree.
He left the money by the creek.
Snapping sticks.
Rustling leaves.
A tepee protected Olive from the elements.
Ben didn’t care for the money.
He tried to let himself sleep.
Ben gagged and chucked up.
Vomit spread across the floor of the forest like an oil spill.
Olive woke up.
They were alone in the vast rainforest now.

Food Technology
Students have been mastering flavours from other cultures in the recent weeks. In the Focus on Food elective, the class made delicious Burrito Bowls that popped with colour when served and all the ingredients were added.
Meanwhile. Paella was on the menu for students in Fabulous Fast Food. Both of this week's options make great dinners for home, and also conjure up food truck vibes.
