Olympic Athlete Visit - Jasmine Locke
Jasmine Locke will meet with Year 3-6 students tomorrow as part of the Olympics Unleashed program. Olympics Unleashed connects athletes with schools across the country to inspire students to find and follow their passion and provide lessons in goal setting, overcoming challenges, and developing resilience.
SJB students will learn from Jasmine Locke's Olympic journey how to build resilience, set goals, and find what you are passionate about. Students will hear firsthand from Jasmine about the challenges she overcame to compete in her chosen sport at the very highest level and how some lessons learned in sport can help students to be the best they can be – whether that’s in school, at home, on the sporting field or with friends. We look forward to sharing photographs of this exciting opportunity .

New Visitor Management System for School Sign-Ins
We are excited to announce the implementation of a new Visitor Management System designed to streamline and enhance the safety and efficiency of signing in at our schools. This system will change the way parents and visitors sign in, ensuring a smoother and more secure process.
Important Steps for All Parents:
Token for Onboarding Process: If you have previously provided the school with your Working With Children’s Check number you will receive an email with your token via email shortly. If you would like to start volunteering, please click on the link provided below to complete the new on boarding process.
Clearance for Volunteering: Once you have completed the onboarding process, you will receive clearance from the Child Protection team from the Catholic Education Office, allowing you to volunteer in our schools.
Quick Sign-In App: To make the sign-in process even simpler, we have introduced a quick sign-in app available for download from both the App Store and Google Play Store. This app will allow you to sign in quickly and efficiently whenever you visit the school.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we transition to this new system. Our goal is to ensure the safety and security of all students, staff, and visitors. Should you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the school office

School Student Travel - Year 3 2025
Students in the Opal network applying for an Opal card (including a Term Bus Pass) for the first time will receive their School Opal card at their nominated postal address from mid-January 2025. Students progressing from year 2 to year 3 and from year 6 to year 7 do not need to re-apply if they:
- are continuing at the same school, and
- are residing at the same address, and
- have not been sent an expiry notification from Transport for NSW.
Where a student meets the new distance eligibility, the system will automatically update their entitlement. If they do not meet the new eligibility, they will receive an expiry notification. Students who change address, school, campus location, have repeated a year or received an expiry notification for their school travel entitlement need to renew or update their details before the end of Term 4. This will ensure that schools can endorse applications, so their travel entitlement can remain valid for the start of the 2025 school year.Students who have an entitlement approved under a medical condition that is due to expire will receive a notification advising them to re-apply.

HSC - Community Engagement - Physical Activity and Sports Science (PASS)
Last week, students in Year 3 began engaging in PE sessions designed by Year 10 students at Holy Spirit Colleague with the support of Year 3 teachers and college Physical Education teachers. As part of the elective, Physical Activity and Sports Science (PASS) HSC students develop their growing coaching techniques and learn the importance of teaching fundamental movement skills such as throwing, catching, striking, and kicking. Year 3 actively developed their movement skills while also having fun in the process! We are fortunate to continue our partnership with Holy Spirit and the opportunities SJB are provided with as a result of this ongoing relationship between our schools. Some highlights shared by Y3 were soccer striking, Oz Tag games and target throwing.
