Vocational Major
Personal Development Skills Long Walk
VM Personal Development Skills spent the last three weeks preparing for a long walk from VBC to Banyule Flats and then along the Main Yarra Trail to Westerfolds Park for afternoon tea.
Students benefitted from the college’s new 1km walking track and the newly equipped fitness centre to ensure appropriate fitness was achieved to complete the 9km (2 hours with small breaks) one way trip.
On Monday the 11th of November, some of our year 11 cohort completed the event in quite warm conditions on the 27 degree afternoon. Congratulations to our students for working towards the achievement of this goal.
Here are some student highlights from the excursion which we hope to build on in moving forward into 2025.
The most challenging part was pushing though the heat. It wasn't about the journey it was the memories we made along the way. My highlight was listening to music with the boys – Jeremy.
The walk was long and hard but we were able to handle it. The challenging part was walking in the heat. The highlight of the walk was listening to music with everyone – Rohan.
The walk was fun even though there were some challenges, the positives outweighed the negatives – Xavier
The highlight was getting to hang-out with peers on the walk – Maximus
The highlight was everyone singing along to the music – Jet
