Physical Education News
Dear Students, Families, and Parents,
The students of Tarneit Rise have been working very hard throughout PE which has been awesome to watch. It has been even better watching students start to play the sports that we are doing in PE at lunchtime! We love seeing students bring in their own equipment. Please make sure it has their name on it in case it gets lost.
Grade 3 Athletics Carnival
Well done to all of our grade 3 students who competed at the Grade 3 athletics carnival last Monday! Your enthusiasm and efforts were all outstanding! Big thanks to the Parent helpers that came along to support the students throughout the day.
Prep
The Preps have been practicing their kicking and have moved into kicking games. They have been working hard on making sure that they step into the kick and use the top of their foot to strike the ball.
Grade 1 and Grade 2
The Grade 1s have also been working on their kick with a big focus on their run up and final step before they kick the ball so that they are kicking with as much power as they can.
The Grade 2s have been working on their 2 handed strikes with baseball bats before we move into a 2 handed strike with a cricket bat. They have been making sure that they are using their double vs when they follow through as well as making sure that they are keeping their eyes on the ball the whole time.
Grades 3 and 4
The grades 3s and 4s have been working on their down ball skills and have now completed their net and wall assessment. The students have been working on moving their opponent to create space as well as different kinds of shots to use to influence the game.
Grades 5 and 6
The 5s and 6s have been working on their racquet skills with the grade 5s playing badminton and have focused on their serve and maintaining a rally. With the rally, the students have been making sure that they use a variety of shots to keep their opponent guessing where they are going. The grade 6s have been focusing on tennis trying to move their opponent and create space to setup their winning shot.
