Student Well-being
Year 3/4 Community
This term, our Year 3/4 students are learning strategies to positively cope with their emotions. Through engaging discussions and activities, they are exploring how to identify their feelings, understand their triggers, and practice healthy responses. Whether it's using calming techniques like deep breathing or expressing themselves through creative outlets, our focus is on building resilience and fostering a supportive classroom environment.
This week, our focus has been on understanding and managing anger. Students explored how anger affects the body and mind, and we discussed healthy ways to respond when those feelings arise. They learned techniques such as counting to ten, taking deep breaths, and using the robot to ragdoll strategy to manage their emotions calmly. Here is a list of the 10 Techniques for Controlling Anger we explored as a Community.
To put their learning into practice, students participated in a role-play activity where they acted out real-life scenarios and applied these strategies to resolve conflicts. The activity sparked meaningful discussions and helped students see the power of staying calm and in control.
