Cyber Safety Project - Year 6, The Final Word

Last Monday night the Cyber Safety Project kicked off their 3 week program - The Final Word. The Year 6 parents and guardians were invited to join in the online introductory session, “Navigating the Digital Transition to Secondary School.”

In this session parents explored key themes for safe online behaviour, received practical tips and discovered conversation starters to guide and support their child’s responsible digital footprint beyond primary school.

Today the Year 6 students undertook their first session, run by Kiah and Sam and facilitated by their teachers. This session was called “Set for Safety,” In this lesson, students learnt the essential steps to secure their digital presence.

 We covered the topics of:

  • Digital dangers: Identify common scams and hacker tactics.
  • Keep it secure: Understand how to practice good security hygiene.
  • Get help: Know the steps to take if faced with online abuse.

Students took notes during the session around safety, their digital identity and balancing life and tech.

The students thoroughly enjoyed their first sessions of the program. Next week we will be exploring their "Digital Identity," which will explore the impact of their online actions and learn the importance of maintaining integrity online.

Well done to all the Year 6 students on their participation so far!
