Careers & Pathways

Hi Bemin community, we extremely pleased to introduce to you our first School Based Apprenticeship applicant, Fadeel Fariq, who will share with you his exciting news.
I would also like to share with you that we are honoured that both The University of Melbourne and RMIT have acknowledged our school as an under-represented school, meaning that our students can access programs and courses via these tow institutions with a lower ATAR. Gaining this recognition will assist us to get the same benefits from other universities in Victoria.
In the Careers Hub we have been extremely busy, sourcing over 40 work placements for year 10s. We are so proud of the way our students are eagerly applying for the work experience and representing the school with pride and commitment to their pathway goals. We know for many of our students is this is the first foray into the world of work, it is remarkable that students have taken to this so quickly and adapted to the needs of our future workforce. Please take the time to enjoy the new three articles from our students who have excelled in promoting their career pathway.
Have a safe and relaxing break, Charmaine and Deb!
Work Experience at Sanctuary Golf Club
by Aauysh Seewoosaha
I was lucky to be able to do work experience placement at Sanctuary Golf Club.
On the first day the supervisor got me to do the safety induction and gave me a tour and introduced me to staff. I did a lot of admin work such as making packs, brochures and flyers. I filled out information to add for a program. I worked in the bistro and cleaned menus and tables and washed dishes . Throughout the week a vacuumed before and after an event, double checked if the medical kit was all good and had not expired. I got the chance to ride on the golf cart and work in the golf shop, process payments and check ins.
At the end of my placement, I was really pleased to received positive feedback. This is a quote from the employer.
"Aayush demonstrated a positive attitude and eagerness to learn the duties in the administration office. He worked very well with the team. We wish Aayush all the best with his career journey"
School based apprenticeship
by Fadeel Fariq.
My time at AJ Auto Service& Repairs has been amazing. Ever since they accepted me for SWL placement, they have always treated me like their own. After 4 months of being an SWL student, the employer offered me an SBAT (School based apprenticeship) and now I'm working for them as a first year apprentice. It feels great because I knew this was something I really wanted to do ever since I was little. This really boosts my experience and career by a huge margin. After year 12, I will transition into full time employment with them and I can't wait for that... to make memories, gain knowledge and to be a step closer to becoming qualified!
Melbourne University Incursion
by Helice Parmar.
A few weeks ago our school had a visit from The University of Melbourne. This was a great opportunity for all students that were interested in university because we got to learn about different opportunities. We learned about different courses, the travel abroad program and scholarships. There were so many options for those who were interested in attending University of Melbourne. We all got the chance to ask questions. My favourite part of the seminar was when I learnt about how we can do different undergraduate courses and then do a different graduate course because it’s something I considered but didn't know what course it was possible until I got told at the seminar. I really enjoyed the seminar.
