Senior School

Senior School – Assistant Principal Address
What a great Term 3 it has been at Bemin Secondary College! Congratulations to all staff and students for their ongoing commitment and enthusiasm, which has made this term both memorable and successful.
We began the term with Year 10 into Year 11 Course Counselling Day, where students explored their future pathways and made important decisions about their senior school journey. Later this term our Senior Student Leadership group joined their Junior School counter parts during a Leadership Forum, which saw junior and senior leaders working together to further strengthen our college culture and ensure student voice continues to shape our community.
A number of major events occurred during this term, including the much-anticipated College Athletics Carnival, and the Year 10 Formal. Students also demonstrated their care for others and their awareness of important causes through participation in Jeans for Genes Day and R U OK Day, showing that our community values extend beyond the classroom.
This term also saw continued growth in our student clubs, which have become a regular highlight of the week. Each club has provided opportunities for students to connect with peers and explore their passions.
The Semester 2 Parent Teacher Interviews provided a valuable opportunity for families and teachers to come together to reflect on student progress, celebrate achievements, and set learning goals for the future.
Our Year 11 students have also been busy designing and finalising their orders for the inaugural Year 12 jackets. They are also working towards completing their final Unit 2 tasks next term and preparing for their end-of-year exams. As the inaugural graduating cohort of Bemin Secondary College, they are readying themselves for their final year of secondary school and the exciting journey ahead.
We are extremely proud of the way our Senior School students have embraced every opportunity and are grateful for the support of staff, families, and the wider Bemin College community. Term 3 has been another strong step forward in building the culture and connectedness of our Senior School, and we look forward to even greater things in Term 4.

Term 3 Reflection
What an incredible term it has been for our Year 10 students! From start to finish, they have embraced every challenge and opportunity with energy, maturity, and a great sense of fun.
One of the big moments this term was course counselling. Our students took the time to think carefully about their future pathways and the subjects that will help them reach their goals. It was fantastic to see how seriously they approached this process and the confidence they showed in making decisions about the next stage of their learning.
Another major highlight was the Year 10 Formal – and what a night it was! The students looked absolutely amazing and carried themselves with pride and style. The evening was a huge success, full of laughter, dancing, and memories that will stay with them for years to come.
Perhaps the most rewarding part of the term has been watching our Year 10s grow and mature. They’ve stepped up as leaders, shown greater responsibility in their learning, and built even stronger connections with each other.
Mr. Wayne Abrahams
Term 3 Student Reflection
In Term 3, At BSC we celebrated Athletics Day, an event where we can dress up in our house colours and participate in tons of activities. All the students enjoyed the moment of dressing, winning awards (e.g. ribbons) for coming in the top 3 in each activity. Some students also got the opportunity to make it into the division athletics.
Another highlight of term 3 was BSC Year 10 Formal, an event where students dressed up in dresses or suits and got to eat food, dance, photo booth and DJ. Students enjoyed the moment of spending time with their friends, having fun and dancing all together.
Last week, we also celebrated R u Okay? Day, a national day of action to remind us all to check in with those around us. We also held a sausage sizzle where students must donate gold coin donations which is good because it goes towards charity.

Course Counselling – Planning for the Future
Earlier this term, our Year 10 students took an exciting step toward their future as they attended Course Counselling Day. With a break from regular classes, students arrived with their parents ready to explore the many opportunities that lie ahead in Senior School.
Throughout the day, students sat down with careers staff to reflect on their strengths, passions, and future aspirations. These personalised conversations gave students a clearer understanding of how their subject choices connect to possible career pathways, further study, and personal goals.
For many, it was a moment of discovery, weighing up different options, and learning to make informed decisions that will shape the next stage of their educational journey. Parents also valued the chance to be involved, supporting their child in setting goals and developing a plan that suits their individual learning needs and ambitions.
The day was not just about choosing subjects—it was about building confidence, developing responsibility, and looking ahead with purpose. Students left Course Counselling feeling inspired, motivated, and better prepared to take on the challenges and opportunities of Year 11 and beyond.
Year 10 Formal
Week 6 saw our Year 10 students come together to celebrate their Formal — a special evening marking an important milestone in their school journey. The night was filled with style, dancing, and plenty of laughter as students enjoyed celebrating with their peers. It was wonderful to see everyone dressed to impress and making lasting memories with the dance floor rarely empty. A big thank you to the staff and families who supported the event and helped make it such a success!
The 2025 Formals at Bemin Secondary College was a night to remember, marking the end of a decade of shared experiences, friendships, and achievements. The evening began with a delicious three-course meal, complete with meatballs, chicken or lamb, and a sweet dessert, before the photo booth captured candid memories we’ll cherish for years. The dance floor quickly became the heart of the celebration, with the DJ mixing English, Hindi, and K-pop tracks that kept everyone moving. Adding to the excitement were ribbons for Best Dressed, Best Hair, and Best Dancer, which sparked cheers and laughter throughout the night. More than just a party, the Formals was a once-in-a-lifetime Year 10 experience — a beautiful chapter in our story made possible by our incredible teachers, to whom we say a heartfelt thank you.

RUOK Day BBQ
On Thursday the 11th of September, we marked RUOK? Day with a special BBQ hosted by our staff and student leaders. The event encouraged our school community to come together, share a meal, and have meaningful conversations about checking in with one another. RUOK? Day reminds us all of the importance of asking “Are you okay?” and supporting the wellbeing of our friends, classmates, and colleagues.
Clubs
This term, students have continued to enjoy our lunchtime clubs, with activities providing a space for fun, connection and creativity. It has been wonderful to see students forming new friendships and strengthening our school community. Clubs will continue into Term 4 and we look forward to welcoming new faces and seeing more friendships blossom.
Student Leadership Forum
Our senior student leaders visited the junior campus to participate in this term’s Student Leadership Forum. This was a fantastic opportunity for juniors and seniors to collaborate, share their achievements from Term 2, and reflect on their leadership journeys. Together, students agreed on a leadership motto for the year: “Your Voice, Our Action.”
The forum also encouraged teamwork through a student-led activity and gave leaders the chance to brainstorm and plan future initiatives. Some exciting events in the works include Spirit Week, Breast Cancer Awareness Day, a time capsule project and the Yearbook.
VM Incursion
Our VM classes were lucky to host an incursion with the Western Bulldogs and Western United. The day was both engaging and educational, connecting directly with the curriculum while giving students the chance to enjoy hands-on activities. It was a fun, informative and memorable experience for everyone involved.
Year 11 Academic Progress and Celebrations
After a strong finish to Term 2, students began Term 3 with enthusiasm and determination as they continued Unit 2 studies. With Term 3 being a shorter term, students have been required to make thoughtful choices around their learning and engagement in class. With the support of teachers and Educational Support staff, students have worked hard to consolidate the knowledge needed to move forward into their chosen career pathways.
Throughout the term, students have completed a range of assessments and learning tasks, showcasing the depth of their understanding across subjects. Programs such as Homework Club, held on Wednesday afternoons, have further supported students in their academic progress, thanks to the commitment of dedicated staff.
Looking ahead, Term 4 will bring both coursework and final preparations for exams and assessments. Teachers will continue to support students to further develop their skills, while also assisting those who require extra help. Over the term break, we encourage all students to stay on top of their coursework while also making time to rest and recharge before the important final weeks of 2025.

Year 11 Speeches
We have made it through another term and I would like to congratulate every one of you for making it through this term and showing up. All of us have put in so much effort and hard work and deserve a break. Although this year isn't over and we have much more to overcome, take these holidays to relax and prepare for what's coming up. It can get stressful with all our SAC’s and balancing our personal and school lives but every one of us managed to get through it.
We are reaching the final hurdle of this year. Don’t give up and continue your hard work. We are coming close to our final year of schooling and although it can be stressful, remember it will be our last year and we should make the most of it.
With some more exciting news, make sure you order those jackets. This is another way to represent our school. Let's make these last few months memorable and finish the year off strong.
Thank you

As we wrap our third term of 2025 at Bemin Secondary College, I just want to take a moment to reflect on what we’ve achieved together as a cohort. This term has been full of challenges but also full of growth, and we've proven what we're capable of when we put in the time and effort.
As a Year 11 student and one of your student leaders, I'm proud of the way we've carried ourselves not only this term but the whole year. We were not just moving towards the end of high school, we were building skills, friendships and memories.
Before I finish this speech, I want to remind everyone that the Year 12 jackets are now open and available to buy. Make sure to buy it as we are the inaugural students of Bemin and the first to ever have the Bemin Secondary College Year 12 Jackets.
Lets carry this momentum into term 4 and finish hard and strong.
Thank you.

Year 12 Jackets
This term saw the launch of our very first Year 12 Jackets! Students had the opportunity to try on and order their inaugural jackets for 2026. A big thank you to everyone who contributed their ideas during the design process. We can’t wait to see our Year 12s proudly wearing them next year!
Family Support
The College deeply appreciates the ongoing support families provide in helping students achieve their personal best. Working in partnership ensures that students remain engaged and meet high expectations.
To continue supporting your child’s learning, we encourage families to:
- Check in daily with students about their progress at school.
- Check Compass and emails regularly to stay updated on events, activities, and progress.
- Communicate regularly with teachers.
- Request to be added as a guardian on your child’s Google Classroom.
- Encourage your child to engage in daily homework tasks.
- Review progress reports, semester reports, and learning tasks on Compass.
Together, we can ensure students finish the year positively and with pride in their achievements.
