Principal's Report

It was a short but definitely action packed term. Everyday I am proud of the learning opportunities that the very committed College staff create for all the students. The term began with the Cross campus Athletics day. The students who were present created a respectful and enthusiastic atmosphere. Despite being winter the College had clear skies for the whole experience. Amongst the events, our students had the opportunity to socialise across all year levels. Along with the traditional athletics students enjoyed fun events like 'tug of war' and activities with the Wyndham Street Surfer Bus. Thank you to our Interschool sport coordinators: Jackie Cusack; Jas Singh; Luke Zahra and their team of teachers for a successful day.

Between the incursions and excursions our senior students and their families were able to engage in the course counselling that was offered in preparation for 2026. It is important our students do consider realistically how they can achieve their goals both in the short and long term. Our College provides extensive career & pathway support; this term we welcomed Deborah Hema, in the role of Careers Services Support Worker to support our Leading Teacher - Careers & Pathway, Charmaine De Sousa.

Curriculum Planning 2026

I would also like to thank the numerous Assistant Principals; Leaders and Teachers who worked tirelessly on the VCAA Senior school registration so that the College can be granted permission to deliver 25 subject unit 3 and 4 in 2026. This is an extensive body of work that must be approved by the external body, VCAA (Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority). While this is occurring, planning for our first Year 9 cohort has also been occurring. The introduction of electives will provide the Year 8 students the opportunity to explore areas of learning that captures their personal interests. For example: Next Gen Creators; Stitch & Style; and Boss Moves.

Term 3 has also seen the increased involvement of our student leaders and student voice across both campuses. A cross campus planning forum was hosted by the Junior campus to discuss plans for the rest of the year some of which you will read about further on in the newsletter.

What a Night!

The Year 10 Formal was a fantastic success. I did write a Compass post at the time to the Year 10 families and I am going to state again the students that attended were respectful to each other and all staff; looked fabulous, participated in dance competitions and had fun with their friends. As usual the students have a great time watching the dancing styles of various staff members and I always worry that a staff member may injure themselves while busting their moves! Thank you to the Year 10 team and student leaders who were involved in the organisation of our second Year 10 Formal.

State Schools Spectacular

This was truly an amazing and spectacular event. Last Saturday at John Cain Arena 15 of our Junior school students performed in many numbers across the two and half hours. One of our Year 8 students was also part of the backstage crew. These students along with Drama teacher, Daniel Ridolfi have been rehearsing for the spectacular since the beginning of the school year. If you have the opportunity please watch the performance when it is shown on Channel 7 later in the year. I felt so proud as a Principal to have our school represented in only it's second year.

Footy Day and House Spirit Activities

To end the term both campuses have had a range of social activities. In recognition of RUOK day, BBQs were enjoyed across both campuses along with promotional activities encouraging all members of the community to check on each other. This week we have been enjoying 'Footy Day' on the Senior campus and 'House Spirit activities' on the Junior campus. These opportunities to share with each students helps to build connections with each other and the strong staff role models we have at the College.

As you read through the newsletter I hope you share my pride and gratitude towards both our students and staff who continue to work tirelessly to support the learning and wellbeing of all students.
