Be Awesome Day 2025
The Be Awesome Day organising committee, led by Mrs Schulz, have planning well under way for our annual Be Awesome Day to be held on Friday, 31st October. Please keep an eye out for further details early next term.
Sporting Success
Please take a few minutes to read about some of the outstanding achievements of our sporting teams in recent weeks in the Specialist News section.
In particular, I’d like to highlight that our girls’ soccer team received the SSV ‘Spirit of Sport’ Award at the state soccer finals held in Melbourne last week. This award is presented at each State Final to the team that best demonstrates sportsmanship, respect for opponents and officials, love of the game, and fair play.
Well done to Coach Billsy, Mr Smith, and of course the girls for representing our school with such distinction. We are incredibly proud that our students have been recognised in this way.
As I write this, the girls hockey team are currently competing in the state finals. We'll provide an update soon!
Upcoming Curriculum Days
Just a reminder that we have two curriculum days coming up in Term 4. They are as follows:
- Wednesday 15th October – Berry Street Education Model (Day 4)
Friday 14th November – Reporting & Assessment Day
The Berry Street Education Model (BSEM) training is a 4-day training course based on classroom strategies and informed by Berry Street’s approaches to trauma-informed learning and the science of wellbeing. The BSEM enables schools to support students’ self-regulation, relationships and wellbeing to increase student engagement and improve academic achievement.
All of our school staff will complete this training course.
Grandparents Day
We are planning to have our Grandparents' Day on Friday, 24th October. Please share this date with grandparents and special friends. The day will run from 11.30am to 1.30pm (or 2.00pm for those who want to stay and have a snack with their grandchildren). More details will be provided via Compass early next term.
Prep Ballarat Wildlife Park
Our Prep children attended their major excursion on Friday. They all had a great day, although I am sure there were some tired children (and adults) that evening!
Thanks to our parent helpers for supporting this excursion. We are lucky to have such awesome support from our parent community. Thanks also to our staff for planning such a great excursion.
Grades 1/2 Melbourne Zoo Excursion
Our 1/2 children attended their major excursion on Monday at the Melbourne Zoo. For the Grade 2 children it was second time lucky, having been sent home early last year after the zoo decided to close early due to inclement weather and strong winds.
Thanks to our staff for supporting this excursion.
Newsletter - Email Subscription
I know that all families receive a notification in their Compass News Feed when the newsletter is released, however, you (or your family members) also have the option to 'subscribe' to the newsletter. To do this, please scroll to the bottom of any page of the newsletter, click on 'subscribe' and fill in your details, i.e. name and email address.
Early School Finish - End of Term
Term 3 will conclude at 2:15pm on Friday, 19th September. Please make appropriate arrangements for the safe collection of your child/ren due to the earlier dismissal time. There will be no assembly on this day.
The final assembly of Term 3 will be held tomorrow at 3.00pm.
Term 4 commences on Monday, 6th October.
Happy Holidays
I would like to thank all families and staff for their continued support of the school. I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable school holiday period and I look forward to seeing you all next term.
Repeat Notice
Parent, Caregiver and Guardian Opinion Survey
On Monday, 18 August, approximately 130 randomly selected families received an invitation to participate in our Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey.
A big thank you to those who have already completed the survey! For those who haven’t had the chance yet, there’s still time—the survey will close at the end of Term 3, on Friday, 19 September.
Your feedback is incredibly important to us as it helps shape the future direction of our school. The survey takes only 10 minutes to complete, and we’d love to hear from as many families as possible.
