St. Patrick's Primary School, Mentone totally rocked in the Melbourne Rocks Times Tables Competition.

 

Last week, on Wednesday 2nd September to Friday 4th September 2025, St Patrick's participated in our second Maths competition called Melbourne Rocks. This competition is run by the internationally renowned, award-winning app and learning platform, Times Tables Rock Stars. The competition was fierce with 10, 880, 205 questions answered collectively by 15, 141 students from more than 179 schools and 1, 304 classes in Melbourne! It required students to correctly answer as manymultiplication and division questions as possible to give their class and school thebest chance of winning.

We are incredibly excited to announce that we placed 48th out of 179 schools, whichincluded both primary and high schools. This means that we placed within the top 26% of all schools that participated in Melbourne. In the Primary category, our schoolreached 39 th place out of 156 schools which is in the top 25% again! What a fantastic effort by all!

Our school stats were astonishing too! On average, 4AE, our top class answered 607 questions correctly per student, with the best performing student answering anamazing 7,102 questions correctly in total. Our top three students were Zachary B(5ID), Andrew K (4AE) and Starry J (4AE) all managed a mighty combined scoreover 20, 000 for our school. The students excelled themselves throughout the Melbourne Rocks tournament. Not only did they engage in some friendly competitionbut there were also some clear improvements in their recall and speed as time wenton.
