Message from our School Council

Our School Council meeting on Thursday, 18th September was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our school’s progress and share some exciting updates with our community.
Here is our School Council's 'Top 5' message:
CENTRAL AUSTRALIA CAMP COUNTDOWN
Only four more sleeps to go! Excitement is building as the very first Central Australia Camp gets ready to depart. It’s been a huge effort from staff and families to prepare for this incredible experience, and students are eagerly counting down the days. Highlights on the itinerary include a visit to the Royal Flying Doctor Service, the School of the Air, Uluru, the Field of Light, and several stunning hikes through breathtaking landscapes. We wish all travellers a safe and unforgettable adventure - and enjoy that sunny weather!
CAPITAL WORKS UPDATE
School Council members were treated to a tour of the new building works - and progress is looking fantastic. The concrete slabs are in place, and framing is scheduled to go up during the school holidays. Once that happens, the pace will pick up quickly, with exciting changes visible on the build site. The project remains on schedule, with completion anticipated in three terms and the planned demolition of D Block set for late 2026!
BAKE SALE FUNDRAISER - RED NOSE DAY
We love receiving well-prepared proposals from students for school events, and the SRC’s Bake Sale for Red Nose Day was a perfect example. The event was a huge success, with an impressive $330.50 raised thanks to delicious contributions from students, staff, and families. The SRC shared that the bake sale was a big hit, and Council agreed - it was the icing on the cake! Thank you to everyone who baked and bought to support this important cause.
CELEBRATING THE PERFORMING ARTS
It’s been a season of standing ovations! The recent production of Beauty and the Beast showcased the incredible talent of our students both on stage and behind the scenes. The performance was truly next-level and a credit to our Performing Arts team. We also celebrated our students’ participation in the State Schools Spectacular, with James and his sister Joice shining on stage and in the main choir, alongside our fantastic mass dance troupe. What a brilliant representation of our school!
STUDENT LEADERSHIP - PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE
Leadership at our school takes many forms, and we’re proud to offer so many opportunities for students to grow, lead, and inspire. We were excited to welcome Yuvika as the newest student representative on School Council, and to celebrate the announcement of our 2026 School Captains and Vice Captains. We’re also looking forward to hearing who our new SRC leaders will be soon! Leadership isn’t just a title - it’s about taking opportunities, working with others, and learning along the way. There’s something for everyone, and we’re proud of every student who steps up.
Thank you for reading our School Council ‘Top 5’ message!
