Miss Loren

29th of August 2025

Dear Families,

Book Week Parade

The Keelonith community once again outdid itself with the incredible Book Week costumes. This day is always a joyful highlight on our calendar and a wonderful way to celebrate the end of our Book Week activities. Dressing up brings fun and creativity while also promoting a love of reading.

The parade was truly spectacular, with both staff and student costumes on full display. A big thank you to all parents and carers for helping source or make costumes and for embracing the spirit of the event. We know this is not always an easy task, but your effort and enthusiasm made the day a great success. Congratulations to Ms Brooke and the SRC for organising such a vibrant week, including special lunchtime activities.

Just a reminder, few things are as powerful as regularly reading to a young child. It brings comfort, security, confidence, imagination, and joy. Reading together also strengthens family bonds, builds vocabulary, supports emotional development, and even improves sleep. Just ten minutes a day can make a huge difference.

Parent/Carer Opinion Survey

A reminder that our Parent/Carer Opinion Survey closes on Friday 19th September 2025. So far, only 21 of 257 families (8%) have completed it. Your feedback is very important to us, it helps shape our planning, professional learning, and improvement strategies. The survey is conducted online and takes just 20 minutes. A link was resent in the newsfeed on Thursday 28th August. If you need assistance (including translation), please contact the school office.

Same-Day Notification of Absences

If your child is absent without notice, the school is required to contact you on the same day. If we cannot reach you, we will try your nominated emergency contacts. Please ensure your details are up to date and remember to notify us in advance wherever possible by calling 7379 5100 or emailing keelonith.ps@education.vic.gov.au

Collecting Students Early

We ask families to provide advance notice when collecting students early. Schools are busy places, and children may be learning in various locations. Advance notice helps us have your child ready. Please also avoid collection during break times, unless pre-arranged (12:10–12:50pm and 1:50–2:30pm), as students are in the yard and difficult to locate quickly. Emergencies however will be accommodated as we know this can also happen.

2026 Student Numbers

As planning begins for 2026, including class structures and staffing, we ask families to notify the school as soon as possible if your child will not be returning next year.
