Year 2 Spotlight

Another Busy Term!
This term has been extremely busy for the Year 2 students!
Christmas in July (in August!) Production
After weeks of preparation and hard work, Year 2 were able to take to the stage and shine in the spotlight for their Christmas in July (In August!) production.
I enjoyed the production because I got to say two lines instead of one. ~ Luca, 2A
I really liked that everyone in our class had their own moment and role to play. I loved throwing the glitter. Everyone in 2C was fanning the glitter around with the fans they had for their act. 2D had an amazing performance because they had three people singing solo. ~ Nemmo, 2A
‘The concert was really fun. I loved dressing up as a crocodile. The lights were really cool and I really liked watching the concert. ~ Julius, 2A
Book Week Parade
Fairfield students enjoyed the opportunity to dress up as their favourite character on ‘Book Day’. With excited energy filling the air, the school gathered on the netball courts to witness and show off their chosen costumes!
I had fun at the book parade because I got to see other people's costume creations. Lots of people dressed up as Dogman. ~ Milo, 2A
There were lots of good costumes at the book parade. There was even a guy who was wearing a jellyfish hat. Also a lot of people got a lot of high-fives when they were walking to show off their costumes. ~ Archie, 2A
It was really really fun. I loved the people's costumes. I liked walking in the parade and people giving me high-fives. ~Yvie, 2A
Swimming Program
Year 2 have had a great week of swimming lessons at Northcote Aquatic Centre and look forward to their second week at the pool. Our students have been giving it their best effort and have been enjoying time in the water.
Swimming is really fun. We did freestyle and kicking with the kickboard. I enjoy swimming because I learn a lot and it keeps me safe in the water. ~ Hugo, 2A
It is fun going in the water and we did some backstroke and freestyle. I like practicing what I have learnt in my other swimming lessons. I love entering the water at the start of the lesson because it's really warm!’ ~ Salina, 2A
We each got grouped and we had different teachers for our groups. We also got to do backstroke and freestyle. My favourite part is doing backstroke. ~ Vivienne, 2A
Writing
Students have enjoyed researching and writing information reports about an animal. Here are some writing samples:
Octopuses
Written by Max, 2B
Hey! Is that an octopus? Where did it go? All I see is coral! You have just messed with a master of disguise, the alien of the sea bed, an octopus!
Bilbies
Written by Grace, 2B
Don’t get tricked, they might look like bunnies!
What they look like.
They have silvery, blue and grey body colours and on their head are long, pink ears. They have a long black tail with a white tip.
Sea Turtles
Written by Ada, 2C
Have you ever seen a sea turtle swimming in the ocean? The majestic sea turtle is swimming above the coral reef. I love the checkered pattern on their shells. Read about sea turtles in my report.
Komodo Dragons
Written by Ted H, 2C
Do you see it?! Over there, in the bushes! It’s a komodo dragon!
Komodo dragons aren’t really dragons, they’re just a type of lizard (phew!), but they do eat meat (ahhhhh!!). Read to find out more.
Maths
Students began the term with making patterns, and then have been learning about making 'groups of' and linking it to Multiplication and Division.
Here is an example of increasing pattern with matchsticks.
