Message from the Principal

Dear parents, carers and friends of EEPS,

It was wonderful to be present last night at the inaugural Banyule Nillumbik Public Speaking final. It was the first time that we have competed at an interschool challenge in public speaking. It was fabulous to hold this event in conjunction with Banyule Primary School. Congratulations to the four representatives from EEPS: Zoe, Eli, Anni and William, they all did a magnificent job, and it was a truly special event. Congratulations to Anni and William for gaining the equal ‘highly commended’ prize and to Zoe for winning equal first place with a student from Banyule Primary. The judges just couldn’t decide between two students which was a real testament to the calibre of the presentations. A special thank you to Mrs Vescio for getting this initiative up and running, and we hope that it only grows and gets bigger as time goes by.

Student Achievements

It is always fun to have our ‘EEPS of Talent’ Prep finalists perform at assembly on Monday. It does take courage, and I know that our Performing Arts Leaders, Eve and Ethan, were delighted with the large number of contestants. Well done to everyone who gave it a go.

Authors @ EEPS

A special message from Miss Lapadula:

Authors @ EEPS submissions are due next Tuesday 9th September. We have some great submissions already but would love some more! If there are any more students who have done some writing this term that they are particularly proud of (either at school or at home) and would like to share it with our school community, then please encourage them to submit their piece. They can either be printed and popped into the box in the Library or you are welcome to email it through to me if you have a digital copy.

Communication with the School

We know that the world does change at a rapid rate especially in relation to technological advancements. Whilst generative AI can be a very handy adjunct to human thought and expression it obviously has its limitations. As a school we do value authentic communication, and I would respectfully ask that parents and carers think about the true value of the use of generative AI when emailing staff.

Team Kids Spring Holiday Program

The Team Kids Spring holiday program is now open for bookings. Please see the attached information in the Newsletter. I look forward to a second successful holiday vacation care period with our new provider.

Hats

Please remember that official school hats are now required by all students, Prep to Year 6 when outside at playtimes and at sport or PE. Whilst some days are overcast the UV index does start to increase at this time of the year, hence the reason for needing hats. If you could help your child/ren find their hats at home, it would be appreciated!

Important Uniform Update

Please see my separate Newsfeed regarding details around our Student Dress Code/uniform policy update.

Important dates

Thursday 11th September - ARTS Show 5.30-7.30 pm

Wednesday 17th September - 3 Way Conferences - Variation to School hours Day (students only required at school for their conferences)

Friday 19th September - end of Term 3, 2.30 pm

Lastly - my absence

I will be on Long Service Leave for the last two weeks of the term. Lisa Joseph will be Acting Principal in my absence, and I know she will do an excellent job. So, from me, thank you to our school community for the support of all our initiatives this term and I look forward to seeing everyone again in Term 4.

Have a great week of ‘Learning and Growing Together’.

Kind regards

Warren Lloyd
