Art

Wow! What a wonderful term we have had learning clay techniques and putting these to practise to create clay sculptures. The learning techniques included pinch pots, coiling and slabs, creating two-dimensional designs and then practising these designs with Clay Dough. Finally, they produced their final sculptures using clay and glazing after a bisque fire in the kiln before the final fire.

Here are what some of our Level 3/4 students had to say about Term 3 clay:

"I liked that we had the freedom to use our imagination when creating creatures. I chose to make a three-eyed monkey. Choosing the glaze colours was also fun!" - Mackenzie

"I enjoyed learning about the clay techniques, they came in handy when I was trying to think of different sculpture designs." - Ajae

"I liked that we could create creatures using our imaginations - It was lots of fun!" - Diyenka

"Doing clay in Art was really fun because you got to mould the clay to create whatever design you wanted to." - Angus

"I enjoyed glazing my pinch pot and getting to choose which colours I used." - Saul

"I liked getting to choose my own design to create into a sculpture. I created the deer from 99 Nights in the Forest." - Scarlett

"Even though I have a broken arm I could still create a Wizard hat using the pinch pot technique." - Jett

Enjoy your holidays - rest up and have fun! See you in Term 4!
