2025 School Performance Report – Celebrating Continued Growth

Each year, the Department of Education publishes a School Performance Report for every government school, highlighting student learning and wellbeing outcomes. The 2025 report shows continued improvement for Launch PS, reflecting the dedication of our staff, students, and families in supporting every child’s growth and success.

We are delighted to share that for the second consecutive year, Launching Place Primary School has been placed in the ‘Improving’ category. This recognition acknowledges our consistent upward trend in student outcomes across key learning and wellbeing measures. It’s a testament to the collective effort, expertise, and care shown by our entire school community.

In the Learning Domain, our students achieved particularly strong growth in Year 5 Reading and Mathematics, with NAPLAN data showing a high proportion of students demonstrating medium to high progress between assessments. Teacher Judgement data also reflects ongoing improvement, particularly in literacy. These results demonstrate that the strategies we’ve been embedding—such as explicit teaching, regular checking for understanding, and personalised goal-setting—are having a genuine impact.

In the Wellbeing Domain, our students reported strong levels of connectedness, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning through the Attitudes to School Survey. Attendance rates have continued to improve, and our positive school culture remains one of our greatest strengths.

Being classified as Improving for two consecutive years is something we are truly proud of. It confirms that our focus on evidence-based teaching, consistency in practice, and nurturing relationships is making a difference. As we move into the next phase of our improvement journey, we will continue to strengthen assessment consistency, deepen our implementation of the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM 2.0), and empower student voice and agency.

We are proud of what our students achieve each day at Launch and deeply appreciative of the ongoing partnership we share with families. Together, we are building confident, capable, and kind learners who love coming to school.

Class Placement Requests

As we begin planning for class placements for next year, families are invited to share any information that may support us in making the best possible decisions for their child’s wellbeing and learning needs.

If you would like to make a class placement request, please submit it via email to laura.caddy@education.vic.gov.au by Friday 31st October. Requests received after this date may not be able to be considered.

Please note that while we always take great care in placing students thoughtfully, requests will only be considered where they relate specifically to a student’s wellbeing needs. We are not able to accept requests for specific teachers.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to create balanced, positive, and engaging classes for all students in 2026.

Upcoming Curriculum Days

Just a reminder that Monday 3rd November (the day before Cup Day) and Friday 19th December are student free days.

Changes to digital device use

From 2027, the Victorian Government is introducing changes to the use of digital devices for students from Prep to Grade 6.

 Under the new guidelines, schools:

  • will no longer invite families to purchase or bring their own digital devices to use at school for Prep to Grade 6

  • will follow new recommended digital device times, including minimal device time for Prep to Grade 2; and a maximum of 90 minutes per day for grades 3 to 6.

These changes are intended to support families by reducing cost-of-living pressures. They will also support students by reducing screen-time which can reduce the risk of eye strain, sedentary behaviour, and reduced peer interaction. These reforms complement Victoria’s nation-leading mobile phone restrictions, ensuring an integrated approach to addressing digital distraction and the inappropriate use of technology.

Students with disability who use a digital device as a reasonable adjustment are exempt from these changes.

These changes are intended to support families with cost-of-living pressures and reduce student screen time.

You can read more about the changes on the department’s website: Digital Learning: Policy.
