Performance Day

(2 performances)

Saturday,

10.30am-10pm(approx)

Be prepared to pick up students at 10:15pm at the latest. ARPS staff are leaving the venue at 10:30pm

John Cain Arena

Parents arrange transport to and from John Cain Arena.

Food and drink can be purchased on the day.  Students will need to bring their own CARD and be responsible for looking after it themselves.

Students should still bring their own food and drink, enough to keep them going for the day, as access to the food areas will be limited for performers on the day.

Please be at school on time with food and carry bag. Consider bringing something to do during break times such as card games, drawing books, etc.

CLOTHING TO BE WORN ON REHEARSAL DAYS:  Students will need to wear their black pants, black shoes and a light coloured top/t shirt to wear under their performance shirt.  The performance shirts will be handed out to students when we get to John Cain Arena, just prior to dress rehearsal.  (Being white - we are trying to keep the shirts clean for the performance day). Students should also bring/wear a warm jacket/jumper (ARPS jacket is helpful for keeping the group together). Students should have a bag/backpack to carry all belongings.

CLOTHING TO BE WORN ON PERFORMANCE DAY - 13TH SEPTEMBER: Students will be wearing their VSSS white long sleeve shirts, which will be handed to them on the performance day.  Students must come to the venue with neat and tidy hair, black shoes, black pants (no leggings or logos) and a light coloured top (to wear under the VSSS shirt if cold). Jumpers/jackets can be worn when not performing, if needed.

MOBILE PHONES: Students are responsible for their own phones if they bring them on the day. Phones must be on silent during rehearsal and performance, and students must follow staff instructions regarding appropriate usage. Students are not allowed to take photos of other students (including students from other schools) without written consent.

DROP OFF AND PICK UPIf a student is being dropped off/picked up from John Cain Arena, we encourage parents / carers to park in the Eastern Plaza Carpark and then walk to/from John Cain Arena.  The Eastern Plaza Carpark has a 45 minute free parking threshold to assist with drop off/pick up.

The licence plate recognition system will automatically register the licence plate as you enter and exit.  No charge will apply if the stay is within the free parking period.  If the vehicle exceeds the free threshold, payment will be required via credit card at the exit.

The Eastern Plaza Carpark is the only safe option if you are being dropped/picked up from John Cain Arena.  For full day car parking, please ensure you pre-book through the Melbourne and Olympic Park website https://prebook.mopt.vic.gov.au

Entry Process on the performance day:

On arrival at the arena, please take note of the signs to ensure you are entering through the correct door.  We will be signed in as a group and all mass cast students and teachers/helpers will be issued with wristbands.

Please note that bag checks may take place due to standard JCA security procedures, and no glass bottles are permitted onsite.  Only plastic or aluminium water bottles that do not exceed 600ml are permitted.  Water bubblers will be available in the mass choir seating stand where students can refill at no cost.

Important information on the day:

For pickup and during intervals, do not wait for students at the foyer staircases. Do not attempt to pick up students from inside the venue or as they are leaving the stands. All ARPS students are to be picked up from the mass choir Part 2 exit noted in the map. All students must be signed out by a listed parent/carer, or must notify staff in advance if they are sharing pick up responsibilities with another parent/carer.

Only students and teachers are permitted entry to the stands where students perform. This includes during intervals. Students remain under supervision of teachers during this time, including toilet/food breaks, and are not expected to have time to see parents and other visitors.

Food/Breaks

Please be aware that breaks need to be taken where and when they can at the Arena.  External catering is not permitted in the Arena, but packed lunches, fruit and snacks are allowed.  Any food deliveries from external caterers will be turned away.  There will be one food outlet and one coffee outlet open at John Cain Arena for the two Mass Cast Rehearsal days.  There will be signage in the Arena foyer to direct you.

Due to John Cain Arena becoming a cashless venue, retail outlets will NOT accept cash and will only accept payments by cards such as Visa, Mastercard, and American Express from Thursday 11 September to Saturday 13 September. Pre-ordered lunch packs will not be available.
