TERM 3 WRAP
As Term 3 comes to a close, we’re celebrating another exciting and successful term in the College Resource Library. Over the past nine weeks, students from Prep to Year 9 have continued to engage enthusiastically with our library borrowing classes, supported by our dedicated Term 3 Library Monitors and our Star Reader for the term. This term we recognised NAIDOC Week, National Science Week, and of course the biggest week of our year — Booktacular Book Week! Our library was transformed as we welcomed a whole line-up of incredible visitors and presenters, who helped our students and staff from Prep to Year 12 celebrate the theme of “adventure” through storytelling, workshops, performances, and creative activities. It has been a vibrant and rewarding term in the library, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for more reading, learning, and creativity in Term 4!
SHORT STORY COMPETITION WINNER
In the lead up to Booktacular Book Week, the College Library ran a short story writing competition, open to students from Prep to Year 12. This competition allowed students to respond to the prompt “adventure begins with the turn of a page” and connect with their own storytelling.
We’re thrilled to announce the winner of our Book Week Short Story Competition!
Congratulations to Salikah P for her captivating tale, perfectly capturing the essence of this year's Booktacular theme "Adventure."🌟Her story takes us on a journey filled with excitement and imagination. We are so proud to have such creative talent in our school community.
We have loved displaying all the wonderful entries to this competition in the library during Book Week. Take a read of her story below.

TERM 3 STAR READER
Each term, the Star Reader Award celebrates a student/students who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to reading and library engagement. Congratulations to our two Term 3 recipients, Braxton (year 6) and Rj (year 7)! This term, Braxton stood out for his eagerness and enjoyment within library classes, and always demonstrating respectful behaviour in the space. Rj has been a great influence on his class and always encourages others to explore the library, as well as his commitment to responsible borrowing. Well done and keep up the great work. We look forward to seeing you both in the library next term! ⭐️📚

RETURNING RESOURCES
As Term 3 comes to a close, all students need to be aware of overdue books. If you have not brought your book to your last library session, it needs to be seen by library staff before the end of term to ensure it does not become overdue.
- All P-2 students must to return all library books by the end of term. This ensures that they are able to borrow new books in week 1 of term 4.
- All remaining 3-12 students need to either re-borrow or return library books by Friday 19 September (this includes textbooks and other resources).
GUESS THE BOOK COMPETITION WINNER
Amongst the Book Week celebrations, the library team ran a small competition called ‘Guess the book.’ This competition included a small suitcase of six items which were associated with a popular picture book. Individuals had to guess the name of the book. This competition was popular amongst everyone, and staff, students and even parents were able to fill in a guess and place it in the box.
Let's see if you guessed correctly. The items were: a notebook, feather, birdseed, map, postcard, and a beanie.
The book was: Gary by Leila Rudge
Congratulations to Sam D (year 4), for your winning guess!
STUDENT LEADERS IN THE LIBRARY
This term, our library has greatly benefited from the dedication and hard work of our Term 3 library monitors—Jaxon, Dean, and Chase. These student leaders have generously volunteered their time to assist library staff in various essential tasks, from ensuring the library remains neat and orderly to restocking resources and offering valuable feedback for library classes. Their commitment has been invaluable.
Additionally, during the exciting Booktacular Book Week, our student leaders played a crucial role by helping judge the costume parade on Monday, supporting the Scholastic Book Fair, and facilitating lunchtime activities. Their initiative and enthusiasm have been truly appreciated by everyone across the college, and we are grateful for their outstanding contributions.
